Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

IrelandWeirdly the hotel didn't have any clothes irons. Not a deal breaker but they seemed puzzled that we expected at least on iron on the hotel.
It was close to the airport but still in the city. The had some flexibility for late checkout which we requested due to work bit only for 1 hour

PortugalWhen I e-mailed the property through booking.com to let them know that I would only be arriving the morning after, the reply was that the recipient was not available and they would get back to me later. Since it was a non refundable booking I did not worry about it and indeed they had the room ready for me at arrival. I was booked on the property by a work partner for three more nights but when I checked in nobody asked for a pre-approval for additional expenses so I assumed that since I had presented a credit card for payment, this would be used by the hotel to secure payment. This was not the case and when my wife was having diner she was interrupted with a demand for payment!!! This was a very disturbing event for both her and myself who was deep asleep and totally jet lagged after travelling yesterday from Athens. Staff at check-in should have been better trained and capable of dealing with the situation adequately. Additionally it is now 22:50 at night and there is loud music being played in the property which is heard loud and clear inside the room.
The hotel is right next to a shopping mall with all the shopping and food options needed.

I stayed here before many times and out of loyalty I came back and I wished I had not, because they ruined my entire vacation for which I flew 16 hrs. the cafe con leite at the breakfast buffet is good

United KingdomI had to wait almost 30mins to do the check in, also to collect my car from car park was so de organised and a long time waiting even when you have to pay 25 reais per day for parking. But the worse for me was to charge 16 reais to rent a glass as in the room they dont provide any glasses for drinking.
