Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaWe wanted to stay longer!!
The staff were friendly and helpful. The location was amazing. We slept with the window open so we could hear the waves on the beach. The bed was super comfortable, and it was a king size. The room was really clean.

CanadaThe kitchenette was very basic and cramped. There’s only one burner and virtually no counter space. The microwave is old and should be replaced because it doesn’t work well. The bedroom needs a door or curtain because it faces the bathroom and gets all the light if someone uses the bathroom during the night.
Excellent location close to the beach. Very quiet, very dark sky at night. The bed (cabin 2) was firm and very comfortable.

CanadaIt's not exactly cheap but then again, Nova Scotia is quite expensive in general (hotels, motels etc.).
Excellent view, very short walk down to the beach (best for swimming during low tide). The rooms are a bit old school but the view is exceptional.

CanadaI was not comfortable on the FIRM bed. The bedding, including the pillows, however, was clean and comfortable. The mattress is my only complaint.
I loved looking at the ocean through my back window!

CanadaRoom 6 has no screens on any of the windows so anything can get in when the windows are open. Because no air conditioning or air exchanger, windows do need to be opened. Toilet was slow and clogged. Carpet looks like it needs a deep cleaning. Because of the clogged toilet, we were moved to room 4 for the next 2 nights. That room had screens on all the windows and working toilet. We needed a fridge and Sherry brought one in. The laminate flooring is great. The beds need stops on the casters because the beds move when you sit down on them. This could cause a bad injury, especially if someone was elderly or mobility impaired. We had to brace the beds against the wall.
What breakfast? Your question was how did I like breakfast. I brought my own because I wasn't sure if there was one and when I arrived I was told there isn't one offered. Staff was good. Helpful and took care of some issues we had with the room.

United StatesSofa isn’t very comfortable. Remote didn’t work but we didn’t ask for a replacement. Water has an odd odor making washing face, etc. unpleasant. Again I don’t think it’s anything they can do about it and it wasn’t a deal breaker.
Close to the beach. Owner is very friendly.

CanadaNothing. Lots of fog but that's not the hotel's fault.
Location on Malvilette Beach is superb. Allowed us to boogie board in the surf, walk along the shore beach combing. Lots of great sea food restaurants within easy drive. clean, updated rooms (from our last stay).

United StatesThe breakfast was good but very limited. our room was clean and comfortable and you know you are staying in an older unit. We felt the cost was high for the value received.
It was close to the ocean … down a hill and across the road. We could see it from our room. The staff was amazingly friendly and helpful. They recommended and got us reservations at the most amazing restaurant.

CanadaThe facility itself is tired, though very clean, which matters. It needs some infrastructure dollars. Its location is worth the investment, as the French shore has beautiful communities and good, un-harried roads for cycling. There are a couple of very good restaurants nearby but unfortunately due to the wonkiness of Covid re-openings, likely staff challenges, these places were not open the days we were visiting the area.
This is a fabulous location with a wonderful view and close access to another one of the most beautiful sandy (and uninhabited) beaches of Nova Scotia. The manager is wonderful, warm, welcoming, and attached to those who stay (as there are some long-stay people), wanting the best experience for them, and us. Caring. Thoughtful. Helpful. A good cup of coffee, home made breads, apples for free breakfast.

United StatesMavilette seems to have nothing to offer other than it's proximity to the Yarmouth ferry. The motel is run-down and uncared for. It may be great for RV travelers but the rooms have little to recommend them. Our "neighbors" talked so loudly and late that we politely asked them to pipe down, which thy did.
We choose Mavilette because of its proximity to Yarmouth, from which we'd planned to take the ferry to Bar Harbor. When the ferry was canceled, due to high winds, I'd've canceled the motel, if I could. The motel overlooks a long. wide, clean beach In the distance, with few very few visitors - wonderful for a beach walk. But in the middle ground is an unsightly RV park.
