Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):

CanadaThe staff don't know much about Booking.com and they double charged my card before I even got there which is not part of their regular policy then because of this my card was declining and they couldn't figure out why and didn't even know they had charged it twice for full amounts already included incidentals coverage too. So I had to end up paying on my debit for the whole stay and it was embarrassing because they were so loud in front of a full lobby of guests waiting to check in also. Not a happy March break and not a happy stay.

CanadaSomeone banged on my door at 1:30am waking up my family and I. The floor I was on smelled like marijuana was smoked on it. As well as there was no help securing a conference room for our hockey team while I asked both nights with being told no.

Canadaweren’t able to check in until after 5 (check in was 3). it was March break and there were children running and screaming everywhere. if we had been able to check in on time/quickly the children wouldn’t have bothered us. but two hours of waiting was too much. A Quick phone call or email to let us know would have been helpful. when the policy states check in time it should be adhered to, or change the policy.
