How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

I would have liked a mattress on the pull out couch/bed be more comfortable. Too thin.

Air conditioning a little noisy, but potentially to be expected when retrofitted to a heritage building.
Great location, easy to walk into the main district and he waterfront. Private parking available. Fridge, coffee and tea always available.

Nothing except maybe some jam for toast at breakfast
Absolutely everything! King room with jacuzzi tub. Bed was the most comfortable bed I have slept in in a very long time. Full of charm.

The bed was a little uncomfortable. But the facilities in the room were fantastic.
Helen was a superb host who included all guests. This meant we talked to people from all parts of the world. A very genuine experience for us.

The air conditioner was Loud.
Breakfast was good. Variety and options each morning. The bed was the most comfortable I ever slept In, away from home. Location was perfect.

The first night was very warm but they added air conditioner units to the windows the next day.
The location was great, the breakfast was very good. We were able to check in early.

The only thing that could have been better is having air conditioning in the room as it was a bit stuffy and warm. Also, it would have been nice to have a hair dryer in the room as well. Otherwise everything was absolutely great.
Breakfast was very good. Lots of choices with coffee, variety of juices, cereals, eggs and/or Pancakes and French Toast. There was lots of extras like a small fridge in room with access to water and ice as well as access to a mini kitchen with a sink, microwave, coffeemaker and kettle with herbal teas as well as cookies.

We were there during the recent hurricane Fiona and our hostess, Helen, went out of her way to look take care of our needs despite having no power for almost 2 days. A credit to you, Helen.

Our only issue was the bed could have been a little more comfortable and the air conditioning is broken/ making weird noises.
We loved the breakfast and the walking distance to everything. The atmosphere was amazing! We genuinely had a great stay. We felt like we were staying with family.

Perfect location, easy walk to downtown and restaurants and shops. Staff was amazing, friendly and helpful. Wonderful to get to have breakfast with our housemates and meet new people, share experiences and plans for the day. Absolutely a charming B&B with wonderful hosts.

Fitzroy is a really lovely B&B with friendly people and an at-home atmosphere. We loved our room on the third floor (the Fitzroy Hideaway), which felt like a nest and was private, comfortable, spacious, and quiet.

Amazing location, and truly stately building. It really felt like we were guests of a family. I enjoyed sitting in one of the lounges in the evening and on the balcony for morning coffee.

The hostess and the staff were outstanding. The house was full of precious period pieces. The breakfast was outstanding and made to order. Fantastic location in the heart of Charlottetown

Bed - was not comfortable and sloped. New mattress needed. Wifi didn’t work!!!!!
