Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaWe appreciated being able to bring our dog, but for one night, the pet fee of $50 ($57 w/ tax) was steep. Would be more worth it for longer stays (as it's a one-time fee). Parking, on the other hand, was fairly reasonable at $16/day.
Four Points has become our preferred place to stay when visiting Ottawa/Gatineau. We love the location most of all. Just a 2-minute walk to a beautiful path which stretches along the river - quieter than staying right in Byward Market but close enough to easily take advantage of all its attractions. Rooms are clean and well-equipped.

CanadaHousekeeping did not do our room (empty trash cans, change towels). It seems this is standard now because of COVID.
Really liked the location, close to the bridge to Ottawa. Staff were super helpful and very polite. Room was big and spacious.

CanadaDue to covid, having limited pool accessibility and then only being able to book 30 minute time slots at the pool. There were also very limited food options with the onsite restaurant being closed for lunch, dinner and later at night. Wish we had of known about the art event happened next door at the cultural centre too! But overall, very impressed with everything.
The location was absolutely perfect! Being right across the river allowed for quick and easy access between Ontario and Quebec. The hotel was really clean and quiet. We didn’t stay for breakfast or use the gym or pool but we hope to experience the full hotel at our next stay. Would absolutely stay here on our next trip!

CanadaWe have to wait 30 mins. for the bottle water and knowing that it was delivered on wrong room. Maybe a bit more of customer service during breakfast, the lady who served us seems to be in a hurry though we get it cause of the covid there is lack of manpower.
Location was great. Gatineau is part of Quebec but crossing the bridge is already Ottawa. So quite and across the street was the museum which is a big plus. Very clean surroundings and we take advantage of the calmness and freedom the place has to offer.

CanadaThis is a total scam. I booked through booking.com 7 rooms, and chose to pay at the property. When I showed up, they charged me at least 50 more dollars per room. When I asked the staff, VERY RUDELY, she said that Booking is only an estimate and that there are additional taxes in Quebec. Of course, I called booking, and it was not the case. The property should charge you the same amount you see after you book through Booking. She even said that we accused her of theft. This staff definitely lacks the basics of customer service and should be fired immediately. We had to go ahead with the booking because it was after midnight and we were very tired. They told us that the security deposit if $50 per room. After we went to the rooms, we realized that the security deposit they held was more than $200 per room (which is the value of booking each room). We ended up with more than $1000 held as a security deposit. When we went down to the front desk, she told us that this is the case because we chose to pay at checkout, but no one warned us that this will happen, otherwise, we would've chosen to pay directly. On top of that, the security deposits are held to up to 10 business days, so we have not received our money back yet. Because this is such a long time, it was very necessary that the staff tells us that our deposit will increase if we do not pay at check in. To make things worse, when one of our group was checking out, the morning staff asked them to pay, although I have paid for all the rooms. My friend told them that we paid, but she continued to say that this room was not paid for. When we showed her the receipts that we have, she said that she was wrong and that yes, this room was paid for. If for any reason you choose to stay at this hotel, please make sure to question everything they do.

BrazilThe mattress is old and basically curved, which causes you to be thrown "inside" the bed. There were some hairs stuck to the bathroom wall when we got to the room. The hotel staff was very kind, but unfortunately they charged me twice for my stay. Although I had already paid for everything via Booking.com, they got confused and charged everything again to my card. I had to spend a few minutes with the front desk to resolve this impasse before checking out.
We love the fact this is a pet-friendly hotel because we could bring our dog with us. We've got a large room with many drawers and furniture. The hotel is very close to the Canadian History Museum, but to reach other areas of the city we needed to walk about 30 minutes. Underground parking costs 17 dollars per day - it was quite resourceful for our trip.

CanadaStaff were rude from the moment we arrived. We got stuck in the underground parking as the garage door wouldn’t open. There response was “it should be working”. My boyfriend ended up having to find the button and manually held it open for us and several others who were also trying to get out. Upon checkout I told them I had paid in full through booking.com. They said I didn’t and they needed to charge me. After some back and forth they finally said it was all settled and I could leave. The very next day they charged me for the stay I had already paid for. Nice location and decent hotel but not worth the hassle and risk of issues.

CanadaThe AC did not work. We complained, only to be told that the AC was not working in ANY of the rooms. This was over the Tamarack Marathon Weekend (it was +30C) so not having AC really sucked *Our parking was reimbursed because of the AC issue.

CanadaI did NOT like the fact that I was told one price upon booking and when I went to check out the cost was almost $300 MORE then I was quoted because Quebec has a tourist tax that is not accounted for with Booking, com? The pool was TERRIBLE. The pool was VERY rarely even open and when it was the staff would close the pool for hours at a time to take breaks, with no promise of reopening. The light for the pool was also not mounted correctly and was hanging which then had exposed electrical wires. The restaurant in the hotel was also only open very limited hours and they changed their menu daily so you cannot look at a menu or know what you would like to order for room service as that is not possible with new menu every day. The room was also EXTREMELY HOT, and even when we changed the thermostat to 16 degrees it was too hot to be comfortable, clearly the thermostat was not working properly or frankly at all. The hotel is also not very close to any food options, so it becomes difficult to find somewhere to eat, or even where to get food from.
It was nice to have parking available, however cost $17/day was a little much. The room was clean and when we called down to the desk to request more towels it was quick service. The front desk staff were friendly and fluent in both French and English.
