Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaThe bed was horrible , hard and squeaky .One of the facecloths was dirty. Under the bed didn’t look like it had been cleaned for months. Also, there were piles of cigarette butts on the ground right near the entrance to the hotel.
There was no breakfast offered .The only thing I liked about the Rodway was that it had a new air conditioner, thank goodness: cause it was 33 degrees out. There was a market just up the street you could walk to.

GermanyAir Conditioning of Room No.4. The room was unbelievably hot and sticky. There was a strange smell in the room.
Historic hotel with potential. The hotel is located in a rather industrial environment in the north of Powell River. At first glance the surroundings may seem a bit dull, but there is life in the form of restaurants, a cinema, a pub and during the day some shops and a café. The reception at the hotel was very friendly and accommodating. The lobby is decorated in an interesting style reminiscent of a film set. However, our room was very hot and stuffy and had a strange smell. The shower provided hot water - after a while. There was mobile air conditioning system in the room, but it made too much noise to really use it overnight. There was a fridge, microwave, coffee maker and large TV in the room. At the time of our stay, there was no possibility to have breakfast in the hotel or to use room service, as the owner said there was a lack of staff. This is something to consider if you arrive late from the ferry, for example. In summary, the hotel has the potential to become a great place with historical charm, but there is still a long way to go.

CanadaThe smell is quite strong, however its quite old (1910) so to be expected. Some moneyand love needs to go into the hotel. We were looking forward to experiencing the historical hotel, sadly when we arrived to our room we quickly discovered beds as hard as rock and bathrooms that were extremely out of date and not well maintained. I returned the ket to reception and found a room up the road, getting a refund though is proving to be difficult, I may just have to eat $147. This hotel would be worth maybe $50-$75 a night. If you are a ghost seeker then this is a great place with amazing history but comfort, customer service and any higher standards you may have, don't even think about it.
The front lobby was probably about the only thing the hotel has going for it.

CanadaThey charged me $146.00 and I had Covid. I tested positive the morning we were leaving . The website says that you should not go if you are positive , we followed the rules and it cost us. We told Booking .com and the hotel before we went . I will never stay at this hotel again and never use booking.com .

CanadaMattress was so hard I brought in a hiking mattress and put under the sheets. Building so old the floor is way off level. Place had an old haunted vibe to it.
If this was my only option in town for my next scheduled visit, I would change my plans.

United KingdomThe hot water for the shower took an honest 10 minutes to get warm, which was quite inconvenient but it did get warm eventually!
The staff was so friendly and made great conversation. We’re very flexible with providing storage in the hotel for my kayak when others in the area couldn’t. Was like a hotel in a museum and while that isn’t for everyone’s taste we enjoyed the extra features.

CanadaPopcorn in my bed. Hot water took forever. Burnt out light. Cobweb and dead spider in bathroom. Tiles in shower look like they are going to fall off and water is most certainly getting in behind. My dad says black mold in there. View sucked.

CanadaMost of the time, the internet was pretty sketchy. And I guess it's not ideal for someone who expects Hilton level amenities.
It really felt like I was dipped full-tilt into history, and that includes the view that looked out both onto the ocean and the paper mill. I felt like I was a traveller from the 30s. Plus the bed, while creaky and saggy, was unbelievably comfortable. They did a really good job in choosing bed linen, pillows and comforters. Great towels, too.

CanadaThe bed was way too soft for us and tried to swallow us during the night. But with all the Covid disruptions over the last 18 months, it must be hard for businesses to maintain and upgrade their facilities. I would stay at the Rodmay again.
This hotel was built in 1911, so the rooms have high ceilings and beautiful fir floors. The room is bedroom-sized with a bathroom, and there is a lovely lounge on the main floor if you want to sit and read a book. There is also a beauty parlor and dining room, unfortunately closed due to Covid, and a pub and cold wine and beer store which you access from outside. This place has a lot of charm, made me think of Faulty Towers in all the best ways! The staff were friendly and welcoming. The room was clean and well-stocked with the usual - soap, towels, coffee, etc. - and if you have time to wander around the main floor, you will find lots of vintage collectibles on display, like the reel-to-reel tape recorder/player in the hallway leading out to the parking lot. Yup, I am so old that I know how to operate most of the collectibles! We had limited time - I wish we had had time to really take in the charm of the historic section of town in which the Rodmay is located.

CanadaThe rooms are small and very old, the bed is very squeaky. The price is very steep for what it is. I paid 450$ for three nights, I could have spent the same amount for a 4star in downtown Victoria. But it is high season and the options are super low on the Sunshine Coast. I would stay again.
It’s a very old hotel, very outdated, described as beachfront but it’s all industrial infront. It is in a great location close to a few restaurants and a minute walk from townsite brewery. The staff are extremely nice and helpful. The gentlemen at the front desk was so polite, he deserves a raise!

CanadaWhen I arrived they didn't have a room for me. I had to take a room that didn't have a functioning window (there is no AC) or a room with a clogged drain. I took the clogged drain. The room was pretty loud. Someone was yelling outside for a good majority of the night and someone kept turning my door knob in the night. Also, because the window was open and there were no screens, there were bugs in the room. I got about 5 mosquito bites on my face, until I put on my hiking bug net. The beds were also terribly hard. My hiking sleep pad is more comfortable. I ended up pitching my tent in the room to get away from the bugs and the hard bed. I slept probably 2 hours.
The staff was lovely! Close to the sunshine coast trail.
