Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesNothing. It was all good. Perhaps the climb to get up to the hotel.
Breakfast was fantastic and what a view you enjoyed while dining! Our room was spacious and clean. Our favorite part was the balcony! What fantastic views! The staff was super helpful. We will stay here again!

United StatesOur bathroom, although roomy had a tub in middle of the room which made for an awkward walking path to the toilet. However, if you like taking baths had a beautiful view out the window.
The Montana is a beautiful hotel in a good location, accessible to Old Town by bus or walking if you like to walk but could be a little far for non walkers who can then use bus or taxi. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We loved the funicular to reach the Main Street and bus line. We loved the views and our room on second floor was roomy. The Scala restaurant bar on site was very good.

United StatesThere was nothing to complain about. The staff, facilities, accessibility and overall vibe was over and beyond all expectations.
The selection for breakfast was incredible but was easily surpassed by the outstanding view of Pilatus and the other mountains. The staff was attentive, the selection perfect, flavor and quality was above expectations, and overall, a delightful experience. It was the perfect pampering experience and willl return every time I return to Luzern.

ChinaThe beds could not separate very much apart, but it’s wasn’t a big issue. Also there was no conditioner, but I brought my own.
Almost everything. Decor was elegant and modern. Staff was very friendly and accommodating, allowed us late checkout and sent up amenities very fast. Room with balcony had amazing view. The funicular was also very convenient since the hotel is a bit up the hill. It actually very nice because the view is better higher up. Bathroom was very well equipped even with a nice hairdryer.

United KingdomNothing could possibly have improved our experience.
We loved how warm, friendly and helpful the staff were. In particular the gentleman in charge of the breakfast restaurant was lovely, as was his female colleague with long dark hair. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they made us feel special everyday. The lady who cleaned our room was VERY nice, and all the hotel receptionists were incredibly helpful and friendly. In particular, one younger male receptionist so kindly brought us warm milk one evening when we wanted coffee in our room. A wonderful hotel, where I've stayed before and would definitely return.

SingaporeAlthough we booked a suite which we paid about SGD $1000 per night, the suite does not come with any suite benefits or basic amenities. Ie. Replenishment of Bottled water, Toilet amenity like Toothbrush.. In the regular hotel which we stayed in (standard room), these basic amenities are replenished daily, be it a 4 stars or 5 stars hotel. In addition, a small bucket of ice service which we requested for, we were charged CHF 5 which we find it ridiculous. We hope the management of Art Deco Montana can relook into this for the well-being of your suite guest. It would also be helpful that the hotel could reach out to the guest prior arrival and advise on the various direction by different transportation. We were not aware that there is a tram which we need to take up to the hotel. We pushed 4 huge luggages up to an upsteep slope for about 100m and to only realise this after our check in.
The aesthetic look of the Junior suite we have booked. I was told that the entire level was recently renovated. It has an option of converting the sofa into a double bed which is so great as it can accommodate my 2 young kids (age 5 & 7) who is travelling together with us. One of the receptionist is very kind to help us with converting the sofa bed at 10pm.. The suite also overlooks Lake Lucerne. So beautiful and calming to mind whenever we view it in the morning. There are also several bus services (3 stops) which pop down to the main station. Alternatively, it's about 15mins walk down the lake to the old town.

United StatesHotel is wonderful. It is at the edge of the center of town, about a half mile to Chapel Bridge. The hotel does have a funicular right by the Mandarin so all your walking can be flat to avoid the incline. Personally, I liked being out of the heart of the tourist district a bit and nice to walk off dinner. I would also pre book an Uber or taxi the day before if you are taking the train in the morning to leave.
The views are stunning and waking up every morning to a lakeside view is the perfect way to start your day. The staff were amazing. Levent and the bar staff are the best in class. Breakfast was the best I had in Switzerland and Luzern. The cleaning crews stopped by several times a day, and with pillow service which is a throwback to the old glamorous classic hotels.

United StatesThere is a significant (about 2cm) rise from the bathroom to the bedroom. I stubbed my toe at least once on it. They charge a punitive price for breakfast, even by Swiss standards.
The staff was very nice. The hotel is perched up on the hill so the views are excellent. They have a funicular that takes you down to the water level of town. From there it's a 10 minute walk to the old town. Plenty of closet space and an in-room coffee (Nespresso).

United StatesThere was air conditioning, but it wasn't as cool as you would expect. We had no real issues with it, but it would have been nice if it got a little cooler.
The hotel was great, the room was spacious and had a big terrace for us to enjoy. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom with the bath tub was really nice. The location was great, and the views from the restaurants were beautiful. The funicular down to the main street was nice to have. It takes you right out to the main street and you walk a few feet to the bus stop or can cross the street to walk along the lake. They also had apples at the start of the hallway for guests to enjoy. The front desk staff and concierge were all so nice and helpful.

United KingdomI had a problem with the shower during my stay. At home or in any other hotel in fact I would put the shower on before getting in to make sure of the temperature of the water. I did this and the water shot out of the door all over the floor and me and in trying to turn the shower off quickly I slipped and bruised my foot and leg quite badly. I informed reception on checking out and they were less than sympathetic. Apparently in Switzerland this is not a normal thing to do. Swiss people would get in the shower, take the shower head off its stand and test the water with their hand - who knew! Firstly the shower cubicle was small so it would be difficult to do this without getting some water possibly too hot or cold on you and secondly if this is the procedure in Switzerland instructions should be provided so that unwitting foreigners like me don’t come a cropper! I was annoyed that the hotel did not take responsibility for the shower issue. I was offered my room service fee on breakfast to be taken off the bill and then very begrudgingly the city tax and the chocolate bars and one Coca Cola from the mini bar to be taken off the bill. How generous!
Comfortable room with a comfortable bed. Coffee and tea maker in the room. Good breakfast with fabulous views of the lake from the breakfast room. Despite below I would recommend this hotel for comfort and beautiful views.
