Beautiful hotel and so highly recommend if you're in the area. We were the only ones staying there which made it quite magical. David was excellent on the first day as the host. Dinner and breakfast were very nice. Bed was very comfortable and view was excellent.

The views were amazing, dinner was affordable, and breakfast was included. The room I stayed in had 15 beds but only two were occupied. The price was great! Mirka and the girl with the dreads were both awesome:)

Lifts close early. We missed the cut off one night and at first we were not going to be able to get back to the inn. The lift guys took pitty on us and let us jump on and get up there.

Staff went above and beyond. Great people. They really made the stay wonderful. This was a once in a lifetime experience.

The water in the showers isn't very hot.

Location. The hostel is located at the top of the Schwarzhorn, last stop of the Grindelwald-First cable car. It is very nice to have the possibility to ski in the morning with the near-empty slopes and fresh snow. The staff is very friendly as well.

In general there is not many negative things to say about the hotel. There weren't many healthy options to eat and you need to share the bathrooms, also it is quite difficult to carry all the luggage and skis up to the mountain.

I loved everything about the hotel. It was a unique experience to stay so high in the mountain. The view was completely amazing and the whole experience superb! The dinner was delicious and I had the best chocolate mouse in the world!

The guest service staff were constantly unsure of whether we paid for Half Pension, every single night for four nights, the only option to eat dinner. There’s no real meal choices just with meat or vegan. The staff were very sweet but I felt bad for them because the system didn’t seem to be very staff friendly.

Beautiful privileged position above the village, only accessible by gondola. Comfortable clean room and facilities.

As in several other reviews, it's possible you'll end up a long way from the showers, having to walk through part of the restaurant/public spaces to reach them from the dorm rooms. Not a deal breaker by any means, but a bit unfortunate there isn't a more direct way to get there. Also, while quite friendly and helpful overall, the staff seemed a bit stretched thin and so check-in and check-out took a little while: just consider budgeting some time for this if you stay here.

Amazing location, comfortable bed (in the dorm setting), and very tasty 3-course dinner option for 25 CHF. Also great that the skiroom has boot-warmers to help dry out and warm up ski boots prior to hitting the slopes!

The last cable car up the mountain was 3.45pm. It made it hard to explore properly, we had to constantly be mindful of the time.

The views! Absolutely stunning. Waiter Jonas was very entertaining and enthusiastic, made our evening meal a lot of fun.

I think it affected me both to live and ski at high elevation. If you’re sensitive for heights it might be better to live in the valley. I had the hostel room and it was a little uncomfortable to sleep so close to a stranger

I had a wonderful stay at Berggasthaus First in Switzerland. The location is absolutely stunning, with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. The staff was friendly and accommodating, making me feel welcome from the moment I arrived. The rooms were clean and comfortable, providing a cozy retreat after a long day of exploring. The food at the restaurant was delicious, offering a variety of traditional Swiss dishes. Easy to check in, easy to check out. The location is splendid, more so because the cable cars end in late afternoon so you can have all the mountain to yourself in the evening up until the morning.

The checkin was a bit stressing as it was at the bar and some of the staff were more concerned about taking orders and receiving payments from tourists at the bar than checkin us in. We were super tired after a long trip and we found ourselves waiting a long time for someone to help us. We tried to talk to different staff, the guy on the till just ignored us many times and left the place while others didn't know how to checkin because probably are very new there. After 3 or 4 attempts, we finally were checked in by a nice and friendly lady.

The location is fantastic! It is definitely an experience of a lifetime. Having such amazing views when waking up is what makes this hotel so unique. We stayed there over Christmas and they had a fixed menu, very tasty and great cost benefit. The waiting staff who served us at the restaurant were lovely, super friendly even when working on Christmas Eve. The room is simple but very cosy and great for a one night stay. Nice breakfast too.

The 12-people room was nice. Most of the time roommates respect each other. But also it might be a new and different experience to sleep so close next to strangers (men or women) . The restroom is right outside the room. But the shower place is so far away and have to walk for a bit.

This is an interesting place. You have to take the cable car to come up here (or you can hike in summer). For those who doesn’t know, the ticket of cable car is not included in Swiss travel pass, though there’s a discount. However, the cable car limit was also my favorite part of this place. Since this place is a popular spot for tourist, especially for the hiking routes up there, the place is all yours after the cable car stop taking people up here. I took the time after the cable car’s working time and before sunset to hike to Bachalpsee (a beautiful lake). It was the best hiking experience I’ve ever had since the whole road seems like there’s no one else but me. Also the restaurant is also all yours after tourists are gone. It’s amazing to sit at the patio and enjoy the view or take pictures at hot tourist spots all you want. The staffs are super nice.

The whole surrounding view only belongs to the guests after the cable car shut. The staff Shara is very helpful. Remeber to bring your own shampoo and shower gel when using the shared bathroom. You can ask gondola staff to send your luggage down to the station , then do those adventure activites as you like.

Will be nice if there are rooms with private toilets, my father (73 yrs) needed to go to toilets several times at night.

After cable cars closed then you have all mountains for yourself! We stayed across bathrooms but didn't have problems with sounds or anything. It's so quiet and peaceful. Recommended!
