Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomBeds crammed into an alcove with access only on one side so that I had to climb over my wife to get out of bed. No bedside lockers, no cups or glasses paper, plastic or otherwise we stayed on a Thursday night when the only restaurant in the area was closed ruhetag. Nothing else within 5 miles.
Very comfortable beds. Smart check in worked well but of course that meant no staff to ask questions of

SwitzerlandOne has to get used to the 24/7 concept (no staff around). There was a dirty towel hanging on the back of the entrance door to my room. Had it been forgotten by the cleaning staff? Otherwise, the roomed seemed clean. The “metal” furniture is unusual and not so user friendly. Chair wasn’t comfortable and the metal (rusted) desk plate makes working “cold”. I think the price is highly exaggerated (CHF 155.10 with genius discount) for a room of that small dimension with no balcony in a place like Schüpfen, especially if there is no staff, no breakfast included and lack of comfort.
Hotel is next to train station, one can even use the park and rail parking and there is an AVEC convenience store very close to buy fresh bread in the morning and all essentiels. It is fairly quiet (outside in the countryside) and the BLS train takes one to Bern within 20-30min. I appreciated the extra towels. Not quite sure why I had no access to the lounge room-would have liked to work there with my laptop instead of having to use the cold, rusty and small metal desk in the room. The bed was comfortable despite the cold, metal bed frame.

ItalyBecause it's in front of the station, the trains are annoying if you are trying to rest in the middle of day.
1. It's in front of the train station, it takes 2 mins to be there. 2. High tech 3. Clean 4. Cheep (compared to Swiss prices)

Room was very nice with a balcony with table & chairs. Clean. Nice view! Comfortable bed & pillows. Very easy access to Bern by train which was steps from the hotel. Convenience store at train station was good for purchasing coffee and items for breakfast.

GermanyBecause the hotel is outside of Bern, you won't get a Bern ticket for traveling inside Bern. Instead, you have to buy a ticket whenever you go to Bern and tickets for traveling inside Bern. The train to Bern comes every thirty minutes so remember to plan. But this was a mistake on my part when booking the hotel; I need to check more carefully next time. I didn't like how hard the chair was, and I used my laptop on the bed because it was too uncomfortable to sit at the table.
The room was spotless and had everything you needed, except for a toothbrush. But there is a convenience store nearby, so this is not a big problem. The train station is just a one-minute walk from the hotel, and Wifi is also ok.

SwitzerlandThis is a self-check in hotel (maybe only during the pandemic, not sure)—there are words arranged artistically all over the walls, so trying to find information was difficult. Also there were pictures (on the walls, on the website) of facilities I could not even find (a meeting room? à breakfast hall?). Maybe these are also closed off during Corona. there was an outdoor patio that seemed also closed. It made the stay puzzling but almost amusing, like one of those escape room games.
it’s for sure a neat building, and the quality of everything in the room was excellent.

GermanyI unfortunately was not pleasantly surprised with the hotel. When you book, you don't see photos of the exact room you are getting but rather general. I was not expecting my bed to be located in the middle of the room and also not in a straight way. That didn't make the room look comfortable at all. The mattress was also not comfortable. There is no reception. When you do the Check-in on the automat, you get the Wi-Fi password. As I didn't know this will be the only time I see the password I didn't take a photo because I was in a hurry to get check-in done. I couldn't find the password anywhere afterwards and had to continue the night on data-roaming. No option in the Check-in automat to give "buisness travel" to ask for the company's address on the Invoice. So I had to write an EMail to the hotel after my stay to fix it. There are ear plugs but they're not individually packed but rather put in the hallway open for grabs. That didn't feel hygienic at all. All in all it was just ok and absolutely no value for the money I paid unfortunately.
The hotel was clean. Location is directly near train station Schüpfen.

SwitzerlandThe hotel is so sustainable that they will repurpose your left behind waste. It is the first hotel we had our pleasure of staying where we could sleep peacefully just knowing the fact that the staff would reuse our fallen out hair so the next visitors would have a softer bed to sleep on. But all jokes beside after the check in we found hair on the bed on the floor and not so surprisingly in the shower. The room seemed clean if you don’t look further. If you choose to stay here be ready to find not only hair(wich already is a shame that it was there to begin with), but also you will be surprised with collections of dust wich I can say is not a good heat isolation, as well as it doesn’t work as noise isolation. Hard to reach areas were not even tried to clean. About the sound isolation, to say that there was sound isolation would be a huge lie, you could hear everything that the person in the neighbouring room was doing so extreme that we still remember that our neighbour went to toilet 3 times in the night. Hotel doesn’t have staff, so everything is automated, the process felt cold and not personal. One of our rooms was so cold that we took an advantage of extra blanket, the other room was almost a sauna. Speaking about extra blankets, why on earth would hotel give you 2 extra blankets, but only one pillow if in a room are staying two people? So let’s count together each person had 1 and a half blanket, but only half a pillow. Also the electrical outlets are in pretty weird places. What are those weird places some may ask… CEILING the outlets are in the ceiling. Unfortunately both of us were too short to reach them and we decided to use the only outlet that was available to us, wich was pretty far away from the bed.
The location is somewhat convenient if you are a solo traveler via train, also the parking cost was relatively cheep for Switzerland.
