Only downside is that despite the fact that the hotel is announced as dog-friendly one can only have the dog in the room, lobby and on 2 sunbeds hidden away in the corner next to spa. We should have checked detailed rules before booking as it turns out all „dog-friendly“ hotels in Ascona are following the same policy. Personnel did their best to make our stay with the dog more pleasant, but next time we are coming without him for sure. If you have a choice I would advise to leave your 4-legged friends at home.

Beautiful hotel with huge territory. Friendly personnel, great food and most comfortable beds. Beach is also really nice. We are definitely coming back again.

The head waiter of the main restaurant eyed us critically and reacted gruffly to the fact that we had no reservation for the restaurant. Yet numerous tables remained unoccupied on that night.

We were under the impression our certified service dog would be able to accompany us throughout the facilities. Unfortunately, he was not allowed in any of the restaurants with the exception of one lounge area. Therefore, we could not enjoy all the beautiful dining areas at the facility. This is just about the first time we have paid for this level of accommodations where our very certified service dog could not accompany us. We would like to return, but this was a very big disappointment.

the location is amazing . the park is absolutely divine , it ends on a lovely beach. we were travelling with a dog and they were really welcoming , we really appreciated. the tennis courts are great as well :)

The room door was not very insulating. Noises from the hallway were very loud. Furthermore, the air circulation in the main building is not very good. Smells from the restaurant can still be tasted in the building for a relatively long time.

Exceptional service, wonderful staff without the stuffiness and pomp. A truly 5-star experience. Fantastic views and gardens and on 140 hectares, no limit to finding a quiet space to relax and unwind. Wonderful food - try the 1 star Michelin restaurant. Congratulations Castello del Sole team - the first experience for us and we would absolutely return.

We booked two superior double rooms. But we did get only one superior double room. The two single beds were attached to each other- not even a classic queen bed :( They didn’t have a 240x240 duvet. So as a couple you sleep with two single duvets. In brief, not a real 5* hotel.

Nice garden by the lake. Delicious food-very friendly, polite waitresses.
