Unfortunately, the timing of our vacation in the swing season coincided with much construction/maintenance on the railroad and gondolas. A bit inconvenient, but we still had. wonderful time. I would avoid early May in the future.

Nice room with great view and balcony. Easy access to the train for day trips. Friendly staff!

Out of 5 days I stayed, I requested a cleaning only once in hopes the cup I drank from would be replaced, it wasn't. The towel on the floor wasn't replaced either. They only made the bed and took out the trash.

I was in the single room and it was larger then expected, I was positively surprised. Even though my room was facing the train station, there was no noise, insulation was very good. On check-in I was greeted by a lovely staff member who made me feel very welcomed and safe. Location of the hotel, right next to the station, is a big plus when returning from a full day exploring. Plus a huge supermarket near by. If I'm ever again in Grindelwald, I won't hesitate to book the Derby Hotel again!

Ideal location right next to train station, short walk to supermarket, bars, restaurants, bus stops, approx 10 minute walk to Grindelwald first. Friendly staff, great service, interesting range of foods available for breakfast. The hotel is perhaps a little dated in its decor but that’s just aesthetics.

As soon as your train arrives in Grindelwald, the hotel is just right there! Love that! This hotel has a cozy cabin feel with a warm and welcoming staff. They have international converters to lend you if you lose or forget yours or just haven’t bought one. The breakfast had a wide variety, it was so delicious. When you’re out and about, the hotel is easily accessible to the main town area. Incredibly convenient location and service. If you have other plans to hang out in the town after check out, they offer to store your luggage until you are ready to leave. The staff was so sweet, they gifted me a chocolate bar after hearing about my canyon swing story! Would highly recommend this place and visit again!! I also forgot to mention the stunning views at any angle of this hotel. You will not be disappointed!

Not much I didn't like!! Had pretty much everything you needed for a good stay in Grindelwald.

Can't beat the location, incredibly easy and convenient to get to. The staff were very accommodating and friendly and even gave suggestions to activities in the area. All spoke a good level of English so communication was very easy. Rooms were spacious enough and had good ammenities. We had a mountain view room which did not disappoint! . Breakfast was good and had a decent range of options. We also dined in at the hotel restaurant for dinner and had some good service and meals from the staff. Would recommend to others!

Very convenient location, literally next to the main Grindelwald train station. Despite the works at the train station, the room was quiet, and we slept soundly. The view of Eiger was amazing, and the buffet breakfast had a good spread, although vegan options were limited. Overall, highly recommended!

April 2024 there are ongoing works at the station, but these didn't affect our stay personally. However if you want a lie in then you might not want a room at the front of the hotel! Its a bit of a walk to Grindelwald first station - about 15 minutes uphill, but of course that can be seen as a positive when you are walking downhill on the way back!

Room facilities great. TV and coffee machine. Small balcony. Comfy beds and extra pillows. Literally right next to the tramline and train station. We were able to drop our luggage here prior to checking in, and they took it to our room. The hotel itself is a little old fashioned, which is charming, but the rooms are spotless and traditional and at the same time brought up to modern standards. Wifi excellent. Would definitely recommend. The breakfast buffet was the best I had in Switzerland during our stay. You even get bacon and eggs!

The stay was great, and there was nothing we didn't like

Great location right next to the main station. The room had a clear view of the mountains, and was comfortable and quiet. Breakfast was good, with all we needed. Hot food options were limited, but not a problem for us. The internet connection was fast with at least 170mbit down and 40mbit up
