Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwitzerlandThe reception was inexistant, we felt like we were in a bnb. The key was left in an envelope at the entrance, and we haven't seen any receptionist in 2 days that we spent there. We were unable to asked for any information, but fortunately the tourist office is right across and they are extremely helpful. An additional remark is the room on the ground floor, right next to the service and laundry room, which woke us up every morning quite early. Hot water takes a while to warm up.
The location was very good and free parking was very convenient. Coffee machine in the room is very nice to have.

SwitzerlandThe facilities of the hotel could use some upgradation, old TV, funny showerhead. Rooms not sound proof but could be typical to old chalets in these remote Swiss towns. Breakfast was super basic with the freshly made juice being the highlight. For the price we paid, I’d expect a better breakfast with a wider variety of foods on offer, beyond the bread cheese and cereal.
Nice hotel/ bed and breakfast in an alpine chalet setup, size wise one of the biggest room you’ll find in Europe.. 5 mins walking from the Rougemont bahnof and located right next to a fantastic Italian restaurant. Beautiful town with an 11th century abbey. Helpful staff, good old school vibes and cleanliness were all perfect.

New ZealandBit noisy for us, but there was a wedding on at the hotel, and if a wedding isn’t noisy then it wouldn’t be much fun! Breakfast was very poor, but the coffee was great.
Location, old town, beautiful views and easy to drive around and locally.

ItalyThe breakfast might be better for that price and table was quite empty at 9:50am even if i know breakfast ends at 10:00am. Otherwise the hotel is very nice, very clean and the position is amazing.

United StatesIt would have been nice to have someone staffing the front or slightly more clarity about the set up. The staff runs the restaurant so it was completely understandable but it was not clear before hand. We figured out everything ourselves and they left a nice note with brochures but that could be challenging for some guests.
They provided some huge discounts for local activities as well as ones in other towns which made the value of the hotel stay an amazing value for the money. The staff was friendly and the building was pretty. Breakfast was filling and they waited upon us even outside.

SwitzerlandThe 2-key switch system of the hotel is just stupid and creates only discomfort. Very less parking available for hotel quests. The dinner at the hotel restaurant was surprisingly poor in regards to taste and quality. Breakfast time starts too late and the facilities at the breakfast are too domestic-styled and cumbersome, so it makes the start of the day very slow and inefficient: I have no desire to boil my own eggs, wait them to cook, clock them etc. - fully useless procedure for clients. Would hate to be having breakfast with more than 5 other persons at same time...
Very friendly and helpful staff at breakfast serving. Room was spacious and silent so unlike so often in hotels, the sleep was actually nice and comfortable. Rougemont ski-lift was short walking distance away as well as the train station with connections to Gstaad etc. The hotel was located in very cute sleepy little village.

SwitzerlandNice atmosphere, splendid location (wooden buiildings in stark Alpine setting with grassy meadows and rocky mountains! Staff was helpful and friendly. Since I stayed just one night alone, I had a single room, which was very clean and quiet, but lacked a little bit of "Alpine atmosphere". Rougemont is an authentic village with a great location in a fairy-tale Alpine setting! Breakfast was varied and prentiful. Service friendly an helpful.

The location is fine, close to a lift chair, 7 minutes to Gstaad by car. Price was ok, warm and clean.

GermanyWe reached late at night. The door code mentioned in the email was wrong. We were not able to go inside the hotel. We were stuck in the cold. Thankfully there were two nice ladies in the cafe in front of the hotel who helped us finding the number of the hotel owner and then owner gave us the correct number for hotel door. But in the end we spent 1 and half hours in the cold after traveling for 6 hours which was very exhausting and unpleasant.
Location was good. Room was clean.
