The balcony is located on the side of the building, and so primarily looks onto the neighbouring house. However, you can still see the mountains and the lake on the side of the balcony. The breakfast was a bit chaotic; it was supposed to start at 8:00, but at 8:10 they were still busy setting it up despite multiple waiting guests. The woman serving it appeared frenzied and overworked.

Beautiful location in the heart of Gruyère district. Very large apartment with a well-equipped kitchen, a dining area and a comfortable sofa. It also has an enormous balcony. The bed is excellent; among the most confortable I have encountered on my trips.

- The Housekeeper didn't provide new towels every day, eventhough I have through the old ones on the ground, they were just picken up, folded and put back to fisrt the place - The breakfast is served from 8:30 which is too late for some people and they haven't mentioned it on the website. - The staff speak very basic english so it is a bit difficult to comunicate

I would be really picky with this answer as we really have no complaints. One window was cracked in the front room, the ventilation in the bathroom is not great especially when x3 persons shower after each other. The temporary bed is quite small. These are all very minor things to us, as I stated we were over the moon with this part of our holiday. We were returning from Italy.

The proximity to the restaurant which serves great food. The location (view ), peace and quiet, nice walks. The parking was on-site and free of charge. The staff went the extra mile and catered for us even when the restaurant was deemed full. Great service, going the extra mile !

Le Vieux Chalet is a gem in the heart of Gruyere. One can feel such love and meticulous care in every corner and little detail. Also, unforgettable was the warm welcome of such friendly staff. Outdoor dining was wonderful and breakfast was plentiful, a far cry from the typical Swiss breakfast offering. Our stay was delightful and the hotel exceeded our expectations. Highly recommended.

A charming little boutique hotel that's rustic on the outside but has modern conveniences amid the local touches. Spectacular views from the restaurant & some of the rooms. Great staff bent over backwards to help us celebrate after a wedding. Comfortable beds, great shower. Excellent gourmet meal at restaurant. Peaceful. Delightful stay. Near Charmey for hiking & Broc for Cailler Maison du Chocolat. Highly recommended.

We would have appreciated a heads up that a car is needed in this area. Walking uphill with luggage from the bus station is not very easy. Also, there’s not much to do in the village - a car is needed! Breakfast is a bit on the lighter side. We arrived at 9:30 and it seemed they were out of some things. They didn’t refill, they brought us for the table 2 slices of cold cut and 4 slices of cheese. We found it a bit odd as this is not much for 2 people.

The view is wonderful, really breathtaking! worth the visit. The staff is very very friendly! :-)

very beautiful! our room was overlooking the mountains and lake, it was breathtaking! The chalet is clean and quiet. We absolutely loved it… dinner was exquisite and staff were really nice and helpful. it’s a little on the pricey side, but we enjoyed our stay so much! would gladly come back :)
