Stunning location at the foothills of the Alps. Easy access by train and a great base from which to start hikes. Hotel was warm and inviting, and staff were all helpful and very friendly. The bedroom was cosy and clean, with excellent views from the window and balcony. Breakfast and dinner were good.

I wish I were a more completent hiker. The trails are not easy for me.

Hotel is clean tidy. Food is good and hotel personnel very friendly, flexible and helpful. Beautiful view from the balcony, calm and relaxing. Staying for 3 nights or more in the region will give you free entry to a few museums and free public transport in the area, including the cable cars to 3 mountains! The walk from Ebenalp cable car station to the Aescher Mountain Inn via the cave is particularly fun. Easy access to Appenzell which is a lovely little town. Don't forget to visit the Appenzell museum in the old town. There are artefacts about the historical mountain inn. So fascinating to learn about a mountain inn which is 200 years old! The architecture of the museum building itself is interesting too. You'll also find information on the traditional arts such as drawing and embroidery. Museum staff are friendly and volunteered to tell me some interesting facts of the artefacts.

Very nice location for both countryside and local transport. The garden would be lovely in summer. And the bathrooms were newly refurbished and immaculate. Nice restaurant decor, very gemütlich.

A bit small shower cabin. Unpleasant smell in corridor.

Hotel is located in calm area, on the hill, from some rooms there is nice view to the town and green fields. Room is compact, for short stay is fine. Breakfast is ok, not wide range of food. There is restaurant inside, dinner was good. Parking is available for free.

Seems like a family run hotel. Despite not speaking English, they were very hospitable and we really do recommend it. The rooms are nice, spotlessly clean as are bathrooms. Very charming dining room, good continental breakfast. We didn't eat dinner at the hotel. The hotel is sit apart from the main street which is nice and has a nice outdoors which we didn't get to use because it was raining. Nice country views from the top most floor which is where our room was (walk up)

Everything was pleasing!

A very clean, quaint family run hotel with lots of fun antiques. We loved the old time charm of this hotel, and despite its age, the rooms were very modern, comfortable and functionally up-to-date. The owners' English was limited, but we managed to communicate just fine. One of the owners/son (?) was also the chef. He must love to cook, because our meals were beautifully presented and tasted amazing. Surprising quality for a small country inn. We definitely enjoyed our stay, and were equally pleased we chose this location, as it was fairly central to all our activities. My intention was to book in Appenzell, but was so glad I chose this quite country location.

The breakfast and dinner were both fantastic. I highly recommend to eat at their restaurant. We ordered a Cordon Bleu and we could hear the pounding from the kitchen, and the Cordon Bleu was the freshest and juiciest we‘ve ever had in Switzerland. We got a huge terrace from our room, which was a nice surprise. Overall very good quality for the price we paid.

There are no restaurants or groceries in Weissbad. All meals must be taken in Appenzell.
