Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

PortugalIt needs to be cleaned with more care. A little bit of dust, floors were durty and smelly (nothing that a day with windows opened don't resolve), but even so, a topic to be more carefull.
The location, near public transports. Supermarkets in a 4 min walk. Very quiet street. Close to nature (on ETH area) and Limmat. Apartment well equiped and very spacious. Good internet access.

MexicoI think you need to provide at least 2 Zürich Säcke for a stay up to 5-7 days and like 3 for a stay of more than a week. as a foreigner it is a bit hard to follow the instructions (also where to buy them) and it is easy to make a mistake. therefore, I think it would save a lot of trouble, for both the renter and the provider, if there were just enough of those bags available in the apartment to begin with. it’s a very Particular Swiss regulation which many foreigners might misunderstand. I know how it works because I’m from Höngg but live abroad and can understand the confusion of foreigners with that particular rule

United StatesThere was an odd odour on the property. The surroundings of the area were suspicious and it is not a place for family or for decent people to stay. There is no air-conditioning, so you will basically get roasted during the day or night. You cannot open the windows, because (see next). Nature was bustling into the rooms, in the form of flies. There are also all types of bugs that will crawl in, because the property is surrounded by weeds and plants that are not tended to. The host was decent in their replies, but was unaccommodating. Normally you would expect them to be gentle with travellers from abroad, but we had a situation and given that we didn't like the place, we wanted to stay somewhere else. Asked for a refund, but when denied we happily went away. A couple days later, we wanted to get back to store our luggage and perhaps spend a few hours. We had already paid for 4 nights (and didn't even stay one night), and it wasn't a big deal to get a few hours there (would have had to keep windows open of course). They just denied check in, quoting that we checked out and never told them that we will come back. You have taken the money, why will you deny service? Not sure if they rented the place out to someone else. Lastly, this is something I blame on booking.com. It unfortunately ranks places with 10ish reviews to be "very good" etc., which can be misleading. Reviews are sparse, and even though one review accurately describes that the amenities were sparse, it has not been corrected.

United KingdomThe amenities were sparse, spartan and very basic,cooking utensils were very limited. There was no vacuum cleaner, and already used roll of toilet paper ,we were 4 adults.There was no cleaning pruducts for the bathtub,and wash basin,and no cleaning cloths.There was just 1 drying up cloth in the kitchen,and no hand towels, nor kitchenpaper.We were given just 1set of keys which was inconvenient for us.The towels were so new that they weren't absorbent.No instruction booklet for the coffee maschine that had only 3 capsules for 4 people.We'll definitely not recommend this place to any of our friends.
Breakfast was not included. It was situated close to food shops and public transport, which was very convenient.
