The bed was not comfortable and the furnishings weren't well kept. The front of the dresser broke off when we just touched it.

Curry smells. Tired hotel - chipped paintwork, worn carpets, balustrade damaged. Very small bathroom couldn’t use sink properly because of the toilet, bath very high to step into. Unhappy with semi nude paintings in hallways. No euro sockets only swiss had to buy an adaptor. This is Switzerland so expected but other hotels we have used have multi purpose sockets. Tram noise but convenient. Bed was 2 singles pushed together.

Very close to city for walking and tram. Basel travel pass provide but all hotels give free travel pass. Quiet location except for tram.

It was very hot on the day we arrive. I think it’s because the design of the building that the air won’t circulate well so it’s hot in the room all night. We had a fan in the room and it was okay to sleep in.

The decor is very dated, and some drawers were broken etc, but to be honest if that doesn’t bother you it’s well worth the stay

Staff were friendly, were able to check into our room early. Rooms are big, clean and comfortable. The location is excellent for exploring Basel, only a stones throw from the old town.

The room was noisy with sound coming from the kitchens below and other residents from above. The view was of a courtyard and a few more sockets would have been useful.The rooms are a little dated so are perhaps froma time when peoples had less 'things' that needed to be charged.

The room was spacious and nicely furnished, even though the furniture was dated. It had a bath which is always welcome and the car park was just two minutes away - but the hotel only has four spaces so request parking in advance if you need it. The guy on reception when we arrived was very helpful, sorting us out our Basel cards etc.

Breakfast was excellent. It's an old building and similar to other European inexpensive hotels. Was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. Close to restaurants and trams and very central.

Location as good and the town was easily accessible fomr the hotel - walking distance. The room was a good size. The facilities are dated. The team was friendly and helpful.

The theme of old setting but new fixings continued in the bathroom. The shower walls had noticeable mould, which has a slight smell. But the shower was large enough that you could use it without worrying about touching the mouldy parts. We had a room facing the street, which was fairly noisy overnight, since we had the windows open with the heat. Mainly church/clock bells, and trams/sirens in the street outside.

The hotel is in a very good location right next to the university and in walking distance of most of the main tourist sights. There's a decent bakery several doors down and some very good Asian restaurants within one block (seemingly very popular). Easy and quick access to/from the SBB train station --- but note that the bus stop is not where Google maps says; get out at Spalentor. The hotel building is noticeably dated (think retro), but the staff are very helpful. We could check in at 8 am after an overnight train. The room, and especially the bathroom configuration are also dated. But you can easily look past that given the large room size, and good equipment. Lots of wardrobe space, a modern desk, up to date "pillar" fan, mini fridge, and tea/coffee making facilities. The beds in particular were incredibly comfortable, and also extra long. (Clearly the management has invested in up to date furnishings, rather than the corridor carpet etc.) Also great value for Basel and good WiFi. I would absolutely return.
