How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Most of things are somehow OK. Only some improvement to a balanced choice of menu.
The location is good and calm. The breakfast also is fine.

Location is great - centrally located in Bastos close to some key embassies but on a quiet street. Short walk to one of the best coffee shops in Yaounde (Terrific Coffee), and close to a few of its nicest restaurants (including Kajazoma). Nice quiet neighborhood to walk in the evening, or for a jog on the weekend. Room was moderately priced yet had all the necessities, eg AC, comfortable bed, hot shower etc. Staff very friendly and helpful. I recommend it if Bastos is where you wish to base yourself.

I had no problem walking the stairs as bonus exercise, but having a room at the top floor without an elevator was not ideal if you have to get out frequently. There is also no clarity on when the rooms are cleaned.
It is securely located in an excellent neigbourhood, with walkable sidewalks. Although not walkable to the centre or business district of the city, it is easy to go by taxi. Bar and restaurant was good.

Breakfast. Only one night included breakfast which wasn't clear when booking and the bread was very dry and had ants with it. There was no trash can in the kitchen or cleaning materials in the apartment.
It was very spacious with multiple balconies in great location

Whenever it rained, water was stuck on the balcony for hours.
The location is great, just near all major Embassies. The cleaning team is great, dedicated and always available to keep the room comfortably clean.

Too many mosquitoes on the balcony of the room. Maybe get that sorted.
The staff were extra friendly. The night guy in particular, I didn’t get his name, was very welcoming.

The residence is in need of upgrade and a refurbishment. The carpet in the residence and bathroom need to be refreshed. However, it’s clean, which makes up for the old furniture.
I received a warm welcome by both Jerry and Damien. I like the location (next door to the Embassy of China) so security wise it was spot on. Also, it’s by the roadside, which I really like because I have mobility issues. In addition, I was upgraded so I got a huge appartement,?which was splendid. Also, was very quiet and I was able to work undisturbed. Finally, the Wi-Fi worked throughout and without issue.

The restaurant. I ordered food and 30 minutes later, after I have paid, I was told that what I want wasn’t there. I don’t work In your kitchen to know what you have or not. Nevertheless I enjoyed it there.
I actually enjoy staying at the hotel. Very lovely staff and polite too. That is what I call customer service.

Warm water was not stable, but they fixed it when we mentioned it. Wifi was not stable, but still the best I had in my 12 days in Cameroon. * no elevator
Great hosts, very spacious and the view was great! The breakfast was very good, you can choose what you want from a list, so you combine to your taste. The few issues we had, they fixed it within hours. Nice and quiet neighbourhood, close to the middle of Bastos and places to go out for dinner or drinks. They offered us to choose between the available rooms.

It’s a little difficult to find if you arrive at night (the banner on the big street is turn off).

Hotel with a very good potential but ruined by a very lazy and poor trained staff. The maintenance of the facilities are very poor. Cleaning is not adequate. The restaurant is very charming but does not serve the menu it offers, with very small portions.
Very good and quiet location. Very big rooms. Charming restaurant.
