Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NigeriaMost of the staff don't care to learn and speak in English, which is the language understood by majority of the guests
Fellow guests are mostly tourists who are friendly and understand English. I have made many friends from the guests.

United KingdomVery limited bar essentially an outdoor area. E locks on doors are very loud. Also the hairdryer use should be restricted to before midnight as the use of them echoes around the whole hostel. Alternatively, sound proof the toilet/shower area. Limited toilets/showers to ratio of guests. Games room with foosball table? I did ask but the staff did not understand, so as far as I'm aware no footie
Cheap for Beijing.

MalaysiaIncredibly expensive for a hostel, but it's Beijing, soo... Staff don't speak much English. The AC in my dorm was sucking in cigarette smoke one night, it was terrible.
Nice and comfortable, located in a quiet neighbourhood with a subterranean food court and convenience store nearby. Very social common area. Paid washing machines available, so are clothes lines outside.

RussiaWould be great if the beds had curtains.
Location, very close to the subway and easy to find. Clean place. Nice staff, the owner speaks English. A big area to hang out, there are drinks, coffee and breakfast to order at the reception. I stayed in a 4 beds room and we had enough space. It seems there's not big choice of hostels in Beijing anymore and hotels are ridiculously expensive. So I really liked this place for affordable price and location.

GreeceUncomfortable beds, and a distinct lack of cleanliness in the rooms, including stains on the walls and dust/ grime everywhere. The outdoor areas where under construction and unable to be used. You have to make your own bed, and strip it when done, not the biggest deal, but certainly usual for a hostel. Expensive for how grim the rooms are.
Nice common room, and decently well located. The showers and toilets were very clean. Heating in the room was warm! Friendly staff, although they speak very little English.

ArgentinaThey clean a lot everyday; but like there is so many people, sometimes toilettes are not very clean. But ok for me. It would be better is the price was cheaper.
It is a normal good hostel. What I enjoyed the Most was the hostel atmosphere. Lots of travelers. The staff is very friendly & helpful as well. Location is Perfect. I do not recommend the 6-bed rooms; 4-bed rooms are much better.

AustraliaWalls are kind of thin - nothing ear plugs cannot fix 🙂 Two young female staff members seem to prioritize their tasks more than providing customer service (dunno, maybe it was a few busy days). Some of the locals smoke in the toilet, but thats actually a nation wide problem and not hostel specific.
After reading some reviews, I booked for only one night to sus things out. After a night, I extended my stay for 5 nights. I stayed in a 6 dorm and didnt have any issues. The limited toilets and showers were cleaned often and i never had to wait in line (in December). I found half of the staff extremely helpful (they helped me buy a charger cable and tripod, delivered on the same day) and the two younger women not so helpful. Id say this hostel reflects the price you pay. For me it wasnt bad at all, just like any budget hostel in europe/asia.

United StatesI was there in January and the common room and bathroom areas were not heated. It was extremely cold when in those areas. The dorm room was heated so that was fine. Also there was only one person that spoke English and he wasn’t always there when needed. We did use translators and that worked fine.
It was close to the metro and close to the Hutong district. I could walk around the streets .

FranceCan be noisy at night because the door of the room don't block sounds from common areas where people hangout late, and it's see through so there's light coming in the room, so consider bringing earplugs and sleeping mask. My first day wifi was not working, then it was ok but not consistent. Not so negative but showers are very basic with no soap or shampoo so bring yours. There are only 2 showers and 2 toilets in the hostel. I saw staff members clean the bathrooms (sinks, shower, toilets, floor etc) several times every day, but the toilets really smelled like piss when I was there. Maybe don't go in barefoot or with only socks on.
Great location (next to a convenience store open very early and very late and a Starbucks. Very close to subway station, Lama temple, Costa Coffee and street with many restaurants). Clean sheets and pillowcase provided (pay extra for towel). Room very warm in winter. My first day the staff member at the reception was not very polite (not mean, but not warm either), but the rest of my stay they were all nice and super helpful when I needed something or when I made bookings with them. They sell drinks, noodle cups and cigarettes. Overall great value and nice for short stays. My room was clean and space was ok. Very easy to meet people.
