Reception staff are functional but don't expect any smiles, welcomes, advice on the city or anything other than the basics Pool needed to wear a head cap and have a guard sit and stare us whilst we were swimming. A bit awkward so we didn't stay long. No wonder we didn't see anyone else using it. No spa or even steam or sauna Restaurant is bad, both breakfast and dinner - needs to improve quality a lot. We ended up skipping breakfast multiple times even though we had it included Location next to the river is beautiful but there's not a lot of food places close by and there's no underground station within 25 mins walk. Next time we'd prob stay in the centre more for convenience

There was nothing I did not like or missed.

The location on the Bund is perfect. We had a room river-view which is a bonus, although the best views you can get are from the restaurant and the rooftop bar. The breakfast was good, the bed was comfortable, a bathroom with a fully automatic toilet (which was fun), and a small mini-bar with some snacks and drinks. I think you get a lot for the affordable price you pay, also considering the location, pool and rooftop bar.

The toilet bidet is not functioning properly but not much of a problem.

English speaking skills of staff

Breakfast was not really western style, if you are looking for it. View and room were amazing. Staff is very friendly but they hardly speak any English even at the reception. So you must have a translation app installed.

Room was a bit smaller than similar hotels we tried in China. Also, two normal coffees (not decaf) in each room would be nice (instead of just one).

The internet didn't go well, usually it was a total crap, and despite I am Platinum Elite member the staff said it doesn't count because I booked the room through booking.com. Interesting....

The location of the hotel was excellent, and the staff were nice. The breakfast was good. The room was reasonable and the bed was great. The view was nice from the room.

Rooms were overall a little bit too warm for my taste. Air conditioning controls were available, but they did not seem to affect much the room temperature (despite the air conditioning being rather noisy).

The view from the rooms was absolutely fantastic. Overall the hotel is in a fantastic location, right on the Bund and not far from other touristic spots. Even the ferry to cross the river to go to Pudong is not far away from the hotel. Will definitely come back!

1) Unpleasant experience with staff at rooftop bar. Due to flight scheduled at night, we had many hours to kill after checkout. Reception was very nice and offered us to wait at rooftop bar. As we were entering, we were very rudely stopped by a male bar manager claiming we don’t have room card and treated us like we trying to give him excuses to get a free pass in. Eventually sorted out with reception. Unacceptable customer service and no apology whatsoever! 2) Very average buffet breakfast. Restaurant staff unattentive and constantly playing with their mobile phones.

The position is excellent, a very comfortable bed with 4 types of pillows, the view from the gym, dining room or from the top of the hotel is famous.Brekfast and room service very good.

- We found some trash behind the curtains fro the previous guest. - TV in the bathroom didn’t work - The bathtub switch tap was stuck so we couldn’t use the shower hand thing and also, filling up the bathtub took a while. - Night staff couldn’t speak well english - There were small things in the room that needed fixings like: water damage on the wooden counter of the bathroom, automated toilet doesn’t close or open the lid (its gets stuck), old broken makeup table area closed off by big glass dining table with chairs, bed light with broken off cord (pull to turn the lights on), All these smalls things gave me a feeling that the room was getting outdated. But great experience overall!

- Luxurious entry, help with the luggage. - We had beautiful river view of Shanghai Tower & co that we couldn’t get enough from. - The room was beautiful and we had our own walk-in closet. - We loved the spacious bathroom with own TV and the different shower rain modes - At the entrance there was room for cars to drop off and pick-up, perfect as taxi spot. - Great, friendly day staff where we could communicate with and fast service. - Great location

More English speaking staff at the front desk

I arrived in the middle of the night and once I got to my room it smelled like cigarette smoke. The next day when the manager was on duty, he changed my room and upgraded me to a suite. Customer service means everything to me and I will most certainly stay at the Indigo Hotel next time I visit Shanghai. The room was amazing and the view was spectacular. Indigo Hotel was located in a very convenient location
