Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwedenIt feels very dated and could definitely use a little bit of renovation work, especially when it comes to the furniture in the rooms (some of which has very suspicious white-ish stains that we tried our best to avoid, on pillows and the armchair for instance). Not super sure the quality/price ratio is the best, considering we have stayed at much better, more modern and overall cleaner hotels elsewhere in China, including Beijing, for a fraction of the price. Would probably look elsewhere next time when visiting Shanghai!
Amazing location near lots of restaurants, bars along South Shaanxi Rd. and close to the easiest metro connections in town. Helpful service with decent level of English, and comfy premises, especially the bed! We had a room with great views over town.

AustraliaI have been to this hotel before, super good service, that’s why I chose to book it for our family stay on Christmas Eve. Unfortunately it was a bit disappointed, it took me about one hour to check in and confirm both rooms have included breakfast ( I paid same rates for two rooms for 3 adults and one 15years old kid including breakfasts for 4), and the system only shows 3 breakfasts. Anyway after a manager showed up, our problems have been solved. However the rooms are very old, especially the bathrooms. And the staff who serve the breakfast at ground floor are very rude, they turned off the hot meal part without noticing, and made my parents (both 80 plus) had all cold stuff. I hope they will go back the previous five stars standard service level

United StatesI booked 2 rooms for 17 days, and I booked months in advance. I have two requests: 1. two room needs to be close to each other. 2. One room needs a shower chair for my 88 year old Mom. However, first three days, we didn't get the char. They provided us different kind of excuses. Finally they told us they only had one shower chair in the entire hotel. We have no choice but borrow a shower chair from another customer for an hour, then my mom was able to take shower in a rush. During the day, the heat was extremely hot, (in Nov.). My mom and I had to stay in lobby or other common area to avoid the heat, because we don't go out often. The food wasn't good in the hotel... Breakfast doesn't taste well. It was in Shanghai, and we stayed in a five star hotel. 白玉兰餐厅the food was not taste at all. I spent thousands of dollars to invite families and friends to come for a dinner, but the quality of food embarrassed me. It was disappointed

GermanyBreakfast has few western options for a hotel of that scale in Shanghai, the quality is not up to the rest of the food. However, having travelled through china for 20 years, this didn't bother me much, since I got used to eating Asian breakfast. What bothered me more is this: When I called to order breakfast, the person on the phone talked to a colleague in Chinese, assuming I don't understand any and used the word 'laowai' for me. Now I'm aware there are discussions about whether it's a negative term for foreigners or not, however, I do believe that it's an inappropriate informal term for an expensive hotel like this to use for it's guests.
Excellent location, spacious rooms, good view, mostly very professional, helpful concierge service, friendly staff that speaks good english, good restaurants.

ChinaRooms are a bit outdated and small. Bed is smaller than usual at this star level (150?).
Breakfast was great! Hygiene concept is Great! Custom made omelette were to the point on each day! The park belonging to the hotel is really a nice haven of peace in the center of a 24m city! Location is very convenient. Water pressure in the bath is outstanding and filtered potable water is really special.

ChinaCheck in - needlessly having to wait until 2pm to check in despite the fact many people were also waiting far earlier than this and they could quite easily have checked everyone in and allowed people to collect their key at 2pm when the rooms were ready. Instead, 2pm came and a massive queue had already formed and took at least half an hour for us to be seen (4 people at the desk and only 2 serving). Others were told the wait could be 1.5 hours - I mean this isn’t disneyland where one might expect this but just a hotel check in procedure! Price - to wait for check in to start, we went to the bar to order a sprite. Bill came - 55rmb plus service charge took this to 64rmb and I would love to hear their justification for what is potentially a breach of local trading standard regulations. The hotel and its customers both know that this exorbitant inflation is nothing more than a callous act of greed. Their so called Happy Hour prices seemed utterly disingenuous- buy one get one free kirin draft beer? More like buy two at the same time for the price of 4! Oh, and don’t dare attempt to share your Happy Hour with another person you are with according to their posters. Facilities - with a sparse gym offering limited equipment, I was using the soft mats provided to do HIIT exercises (usually mats are provided in any gym but these were the only two available). I was rudely ordered off of the mats by their jobs worth gym supervisor whose main job role clearly was to simply micromanage the customers and school them when necessary. Suffice to say, I ignored her demand for me to move because there was no signage insisting that we could not use the mats in this way (plus anyone with common sense recognizes that this is in the fact the purpose of such mats).
