The hotel is beautiful with so many interesting things to look at. It's almost a museum at this point! Very nice staff who helped us with anything we asked them and always in a friendly way

Housekeeping did not observe the "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door knob twice. On the first day I didn't need anything, left the DND-sign on my door, but when I came back I found new towels (not very sustainable). On the second day housekeeping entered while I had just woken up, despite the DND-sign on the door. What's the use of a DNB-sign when it is not observed?

Great location, good atmosphere, clean and comfortable room, quiet, assistance with transportation, helpful staff. Good choice when visiting Datong and surroundings. Great coffee too!

A bit small for the luggage for 3 people, but we only stayed one night so not a big issue. The room was next to the breakfast room so a bit noisy in the morning

The hotel is right in the center, but it's quiet. We had a huge bed for 3 people, enough room for everybody. The staff didn't speak any english, but used online translator and had prepared a proposal for tour for the next day with all needed info in english so it was easy and fast to decide what to do

Historical Yan Hua Temple & popular eateries of Datong are all within walking distance from the hotel. It located within walking street, You need to get driver to stop at 严华饭店&walk to the barrier to reach here. Here I must really say a big thank you for the staff who we met during checkout. She has went extra miles to assist my husband to search for his lost wallet and promptly follow up.

Lots of suspicious stares from staff, which I suppose is something you get used to as a traveller in this part of the world, but in a hotel where I saw a number of other foreign travellers, it seemed a bit odd. Also, the room was always really hot and the air conditioner was rather ineffective.

The room was huge, very clean, and all facilities were as they should be. The hotel is in a very convenient location, right next to the bell tower and Huayan temple.

Everything about the actual hotel was great. No complaints at all. An annoyingly persistent recorded message from the square outside. Nothing the hotel could do about it though.

Location can't be beat. Best bed in China yet. Upgraded to very spacious room. Extremely helpful staff. Tasty breakfast.

Rooms are small but confortable, quiet and warm

Charming historical building within the city centre, extremely kind staff who upgraded my room for free, helped me to bring my suitcases to the nearest taxi, found a local guide book in a book store for me and gave good advice on local restaurants. Very good level of English spoken, I highly recommend this hostel!

It was not possible to regulate the heating in the room, so even though it was freezing outside (-18C), we were sweating in the room and had to open the window or use the airconditioning. This phenomenon is often encountered in hotels in northern China.

The location of the hotel was super, right in the “old” (rebuild) town center, and around the corner of the Huayan temple. The hotel and room were clean and the bed comfortable. The (Chinese styled) breakfast was decent. The staff was very friendly and had a good restaurant tip for dinner.

My only constructive feedback would be on the temp adjustment of the shower; temp change was very extreme with only a slight tweak to handle.

I love the traditional design of the hotel, the cosiness and cleanliness of the hotel room, plus the room facilities that came with the unexpected water container that functions as a water filter as well. Most of all, I appreciate the excellent service of the Front Desk, who were more than willing to assist us with the booking of a taxi for our Yungang Grottoes & Hanging Temple day trip hassle free, and reached out to us when they found a pair of dark glasses in one of our rooms after we left (which as it turned out, were not ours).

Hotel in good location near Bell Tower, Huayan temple and shops. Famous slide noodle restaurant just stone throw away. Reasonably good breakfast. Staff are friendly & helpful.

Beautiful hotel, very friendly and helpful staff. Huayuan Temple is only 5min walk from the hotel and the Yungang grottoes a 30min drive. The Dao Xiaomian (typical noodles from Datong) restaurant just around the hotel corner suggested by the hotel staff was really good, a must try!

Everything was perfect. My room was cozy, the bed was comfortable, toiletries provided. Breakfast was really good but overall, Pipa's team were wonderful, they helped me to book a taxi for early morning and even gave me food to eat during my trip; they were very warm and kind people. They also let me check in late and check out very early. If I come back do Datong I will definitely stay here again.

Our room was next to the restaurant ,so, the room was in a noisy side. Soon after 6 am ish early guests would be there for breakfast if you are not an early bird it could be a bit noisy to sleep. You will need the ear plugs.

Premier location in the centre of the old town. The room is very clean and comfortable, the breakfast was simple but had all you need. The staff are very helpful and friendly.
