The place is located at the end of a dead-end so very quiet, the view is breathtaking, the staff speaks English and is very helpful. It is run by a family and you can feel the nice warm atmosphere. You are at a walking distance from the river and can take a 5 min ferry boat to Yangshuo center. we rented 2 family rooms, as we stayed with our 4 kids and my parents. we all love the place and how nice and helpful the staff was. thank you, we will definitely recommend this place to our friends.

My Didi couldn't work (my fault) but Craig more than came to the rescue. Food quality needs to be upped. Needs daily change. Room lighting could be more cheerful.

Craig the manager was nice and helpful. There was a homely family feeling because of the cheerful staff. Loved his kid playing around with his friend. Gave me an insight into the challenges of a typical Chinese family. The chef treated us to two, glutinous rice dumplings since she had made them for Qingming. Very nice of her. The scenery is unbeatable. It's far from the Madding crowd. The mattresses were super comfy.

Just wish I could have stayed longer!

Everything about my stay here was an absolute delight. The staff is so welcoming and helpful with booking adventures, the views are beyond amazing, it's a quiet getaway from the city and only a short didi into town, or a very manageable longer walk. Breakfast was delicious and the rooms were clean with very comfortable beds. Everything exceeded my expectations.

The view was wonderful and the staff very professional. He helped me to arrange everything during my 2 days in Yangshou, including taxi arrangement and he also brought me personally with his carfor free, to take the bus to go to Guilin airport. He speaks very well English and he is very kind and smart.

I am not a fan of shower curtains, and there was not much soap. The shower was very good.

Location. The views are stunning. The staff very friendly and helpful making transport arrangements and giving good recommendations on activities in the area. The room is very big and clean. Very decent breakfast with good coffee. Had a great stay.

Tucked away from the city, relaxing, nice views. restaurant and pool available. Beautiful bike ride into town. Staff were so helpful and really made our stay feel special. Very close to a bus stop to Xingping, which was convenient! 15 min bike ride to the city of Yangshuo, bikes and e-bikes available to rent.

We would of liked to have stayed for a long time

The hotel is in the most beautiful location on the other side of the river to Yangshuo with the most incredible views of the limestone hills and Yangshuo. Very comfortable big rooms with great beds and bathroom. Huge balcony looking out over the landscape. Easy to get taxis in and out of town. Shelley, Craig and their friendly staff are great hosts and we would like to say a very special thank you to Craig who was so kind to us showing us the beautiful stone village and countryside between Yangshuo and Guilin. We hope to be back one day to your very special hotel and Yangshuo. It really is a very unique place that deserves much time and space.

Everything was perfect, the hotel is quiet(sleeps well), and is a good distance from the center of Yangshuo, not so far not so close, ten minutes by car from ferry station. The staff is very helpful with good advices for POI and local usuals. Différents services: rental e-bike (electric scoot), bicycle. Laundry service is very effective. The cooker has talent: local food and chinese breakfast is awesome. The sunset and the view from the bedroom is wonderful, you can see karstics mointains: incredible, amazing. You’ll never find a better place for all of these reasons.

There was nothing to dislike about the property but I have a few suggestions. It would be great if the rooms had a small fridge. Also, we didn’t realize that there would be no shower gel or shampoo so we had to buy some the next day. I would also recommend changing the shower curtains to shower doors as I feel these would be more hygienic.

The staff were fantastic and couldn’t have made us feel more welcome. We ate at the hotel two evening’s during our stay and the food was very good quality and fresh, vegetables from the garden! The staff even shared their own meal with us one night! The room was large, comfortable and the view was to die for! They have a small swimming pool that was spotless and it would be amazing to use in summer. Our stay was so peaceful and we could watch the Li River cruise boats sailing nearby too. There was always lots of hot water for a long shower after a cold day exploring. The beds were comfortable and clean.

Very kind staff! Craig helped us figure out every plan or question we had, and fixed taxis and a cooking class. The other staff was very friendly as well, could all speak (a bit) English which was quite rare during round trip in China. The menu options were unlimited and all all freshly cooked on request. Very delicious! Comfortable beds with even a beamer, and lovely view over Yangshuo city center and the mountains. Lovely walk through nature and by ferry to the city. Laundry service was fine.

I assumed that the hotel is a bit closer to the center. But you either have to take a car/taxi through a tunnel with quite some traffic (not really bikeable), or walk for a bit and use a ferry to cross the river.

I had a room with balcony view, which was really beautiful. The staff was friendly and helpful and spoke English. The hotel is a bit away from the touristy center, which has negative aspects, but also means it is very calm. The garden is very pretty and the rooms look like in the pictures, modern and very clean.

All rooms are adjacent to the atrium/ stairwell, which means that late at night and very early morning you can hear a lot of noise from other guests going up and down the stairs (noisely). So, don't expect to sleep for a long time, as you won't get to bed early , and you will be woken up very early. This is a bit disappointing given it is supposed to be a Quiet Retreat.

Quiet relaxing location and spectacular scenery. Great staff, including owner who treat all guests like family.

Nothing for us

My daughter and I had an unforgettable stay at Riverside Retreat. I have never before had a room with such a breathtaking view. The mountains and river are just stunning. Our room was very comfortable and modern with excellent air conditioning, which was much needed. The bed was perfect and the linen top quality. The shower was modern with plenty of hot water. Breakfast was tasty and on the last night we had dinner at the hotel, which was fresh, delicious and good value. The pool was refreshing - perfect after a day sightseeing. Above all else, the staff were wonderful. They couldn't do enough to help. Wei on reception spoke excellent English and was so kind and patient with us, organising taxis and tours, making suggestions, trying to get us the best price everywhere and generally being thoughtful. It really made all the difference. Everyone at the hotel is pleasant and hard working. We would come back no question and would highly recommend if you want a quiet, authentic, great value hotel with glorious views and excellent customer care.

If you want to go to the center you will need to pick a taxi/didi. Other than that it is excellent place to stay: clean, good staff and comfortable environment.

Cleaning can be improved.

Located outside of Yangshuo, but you can easily reach city center by the ferry, to which you can walk in 10 minutes. We had an amazing view from our terrace. Friendly and helpfull English speaking staff at the reception helped us with arrangements and provided information about the area. Good breakfast. You can also get dinner from the hotel restaurant, which was quite good. Excellent price quality ratio. Nice swimmimg pool.
