Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United Kingdomthere could have been an extra towel per person
Carol was so helpful. She arranged a taxi for myself and my friend when we arrived at the train station, and the driver took us to an ATM to get cash out. She was always on hand to help with any queries or concerns. The set up of the hostel breakfast/dinner allowed us to meet other people and have an enjoyable rural experience.

ThailandThe only thing I'd like to point out is that the pictures on the website are a little bit misleading. They make it look like the entire building and rooms are made of wood, which is the reason I booked it in the 1st place, when in fact it is a regular concrete building, and the wooden one in the pictures is the one next door. A bit confusing but I still had a great stay nonetheless and the rooms had everything we needed so no regret.
Tongfu Inn is a lovely family business. Carol, the owner, is the sweetest and most helpful host. She is always around if you have a question or need any help, and speak really good English which makes everything so much easier. She even drove me to the doctor when I felt under the weather and did the consultation with me to translate. Everyone who works there is friendly and welcoming. This creates a very comfortable atmosphere. Her parents serve delicious food in their little restaurant right under the hotel. We ate there everyday for 5 days and did not have one bad meal. As a late sleeper, I also really appreciate that breakfast is served until 12 and for a very cheap price. The location is perfect, a few minutes walk to the entrance of the park, in a small rural village. At the end of our stay she offered me a beautiful hair piece and shared some cake with us. All in all, it was a relaxing and peaceful experience. Thank you Carol and family for a great time in this beautiful region!

United KingdomCarol and her family were amazing hosts, making our stay very comfortable. Their cooked breakfasts and dinners were delicious and very reasonably priced. Location is great - only 10 min to the West entrance of the Zhangjiajie National Park. We stayed for 7 nights and Carol was great with helping us plan our routes each day. Rooms were a bit basic and could do with modernising, but clean and comfortable. Would definitely recommend this home stay! Rooms

The hotel was really close to the entrance of the park which was great and Carol gave us a detailed plan of what to do each day based on the weather which was really useful. We had breakfast and dinner at the hotel and it was always really nice and reasonably priced.

PortugalWe visited during the winter time (January) and it was really cold. The room has heating and they provided us with a hot water bag to put on the bed but it was still pretty cold. We would recommend you to take some extra warm clothes for the night time. Finally the water takes some time to heat up and early in the morning might not work. But for most of our stay we had very warm water.
The property is very rustic/modest. It feels like you’re being welcomed in a family’s home. Carol was 100% amazing to us and provided us with everything we needed and amazing tips for our days and how to seize the most of them. The rest of the family was also very kind and we really enjoyed our dinner meals! :)

South AfricaWe liked everything about the property.
The property is within walking distance of the West Gate of Zhangjiajie National Park amongst a small cluster of other typically Chinese rural houses and buildings. The host, Carol, is exceptional. She speaks good English. She arranged a car to take us to and from the train station in Zhangjiajie which is a drive of about 45-60 minutes. She also assisted us in planning our visit to the park to suit our needs. Taking into account that we are over 60, she alerted us to the places in the park like cable cars and the Bailong Elevator where we could ask for 50% discounts. We could also call her or communicate via wechat when we had questions while we were in the park. Her parents and mother in law assist her in managing the Inn in an efficient, friendly and welcoming manner. They offer deicious suppers at the Inn that they prepare from a wide-ranging menu. There are three choices of breakfast menu and you can order extras. It was wonderful to get to know local people, learn about their life and experience their warm hospitality.

GermanyThe rooms were small and very simple but you have everything you need. However, they don’t do room service so after a few days it starts to get a bit dirty.
The hotel is in the perfect location with a 5mins walk from the entrance of the National Park. The host Carol is amazing - she organises everything for you, gives great tips, helps in booking tickets, and has multiple drivers if you need to get to the airport/train station/ different national park. The hotel also offers cheap breakfast and various dinner options in the in house restaurant.

AustraliaI didn't like that I had to leave 😕
The owners of the property run this business and in my opinion it was a home away from home. Their hospitality and kindness was priceless. I have never experienced such warmth and genuine care from an establishment. Due to flight cancellation etc, I arrived at the property at 11:59pm and the whole family was there to greet me and welcome me. When I cleared the check-in formalities, I was asked if I wanted something to eat. I picked a packet of instant noodles soup to be polite and checked in yo my room and hit the sack. Next morning breakfast was of my choosing and then Carol organised my tour for the day with her dad who is a registered Tour Guide. Prior to my stay here I was in Vietnam and had a brilliant time in Vietnam, Tongfu Inn was the icing on the cake. I cried when I had to leave this place and wish I can return sometime soon. My sincere thanks to Carol, Bàba and Màma for taking care of me and making my stay so memorable. Mama, I am so privileged to have had the pleasure of such delicious home cooked meals, Bàba thanks for all the sightseeing in Zhangjiajie and taking good care of me, Carol, my love you are truly inspirational and your warmth and kindness has touched me deeply. Best wishes for the birth of your baby in November.
