How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

I did not expect the space to be that small! Probably it was only my room, but who knows! I just found it outpriced for the space we actually received.

Very loud. Music constantly playing on both top floor and bottom floor late into the night. Room can get a little musky and damp because there is no ventilation with an AC going.
Great location in Getsemani neighborhood. Private room was spacious and comfortable. Nice bar/pool area.

Had a private room in the ground floor. Smelt a bit mouldy and price too high for what it is but was quiet. Shower did not close right.
Cool beautiful hostel right in front of one of the best restaurant in town. Staff is very nice and always eager to help. Quiet.

The room (private) was really small. In addition, there was very loud music in the evening (presumably from the rooftop bar) which made it difficult to sleep.
The location is very good in the middle of Getsemani, a lot of restaurants and bars in walking distance.

4 bed room way too small, Lack of wall to adjpined bathroom creates many Problems... being woken up in the liddle of the night, extreme humidity, mold

We booked a double room and unfortunately it smelled molded and the air was humid (although no mold was visible). That is also only logical as the bathroom has neither a ventilation nor a window, and the room’s window faces the isle which you also cannot really open as otherwise everyone can open the door easily and walk in. We payed 350k per night and found that too expensive for such a small room which is then also smelling.
Perfectly located in Cartagena’s most active district. The staff was super friendly and the setup of the hostel incl. rooftop bar is really nice. For everyone who intends to sleep in a dorm this might be a great choice.

Booked a private room for some peace before heading home. Unfortunately this room was right behind the reception where everybody passes, music from the bar, etc. super super loud during night and day. Room also very clammy and things were all a bit damp after my stay. Not what I expected for that money.

There’s a sliding door for the toilet and door on the shower but they’re only about 6 foot high so there’s no privacy in the room. Rooms were a bit of a damp smell. I asked others and it turns out I paid almost double what others paid for a dorm room
Hostel is in a good location close to old town and the party areas. They organize some activities as well to help people meet. The beds are really comfy with curtains, fan, plug and light and don’t move much when the person on top is getting in and out. Lockers provided in the rooms.

The music of the rooftop parties can be heard till late in your room. When complaining about this, nothing changed. Have spent a lot of money to sleep here, but in the end was not able to sleep at all.

The construction noice from the property next door. I feel like the guests could be warned about it since it’s super loud and it’s impossible to enjoy the pool during the day. The design of the dorm toilets, the door doesn’t close properly and maybe look into installing real doors if possible. Also the windows would need proper curtains in both private and dorms. Dorm windows had no curtains and it was hard to change clothes in private.
The rooms and other facilities were clean and modern. The staff is lovely, everyone I spoke to were so kind and helpful.

- noise level: rooms in the hostel are still under construction and the building next door is a very big construction site. There’s constant loud noise and you can’t actually use your room during the day because of that - the hostel staff was not helpful at all and very unfriendly when we asked if we could get another room because of the noise - rooms are quite small and very pricey - we have expected much more for the price
- perfect location super close to everything - they offer a lot of social activities - the whole building was very clean and looked nice

Very tiny dorms - even by hostel standards. There isn’t any room for multiple people to stand in the 4 person dorm.
