The hill climb to get to this spot is a trek. In the heat of the day it is exhausting!

The views were amazing and the staff were nice, but Wendy is a really beautiful soul and made me feel very welcome. The atmosphere there is lovely and relaxed, which makes it a great place to unwind.

I loved the place and the atmosphere! Yes, you walk up a steep hill to get there but you get rewarded with an amazing view and sunsets over the bay. Angelina, Milena and the team were angels and supported us with everything we needed, from special dietary requirements to organising a masseuse, doing laundry. The owner Javier made us feel home with his relaxed and welcoming personality. For us, it was the perfect place to recover from our hike at the Lost City. Thank you for everything!

A bit of a hill to reach the property but def worth it!

The layout of the hostel feels like a tree house! All different level and point of entries - super fun & cool! The staff were LOVELY! The included breakfast can with delicious eggs, toast, a smoothie, coffee, and fresh fruit. Our room did not have AC but the fan kept us cool at night. The most amazing sunset views as the hostel is located up on a hill over looking the beach.

Walking up to the hostel with my heavy bags in the heat 😂 the view is completely worth it. If you don't like steep walks to accomodation then this place might not be for you

if you have problems with your knees or difficulties with walking I wouldn’t recommend staying here. quiet a journey to arrive to the place (so worth it though!) and lots of steps in the place.

best vibe and place in Taganga! super quiet and amazing atmosphere! Richie, his mother and the whole team created such an awesome place to relax by the pool, connect with other travelers or just enjoy ones private space! we can really recommend it - there is dorm, rooms with fan or AC - for everyone something!

The only negative thing I would say at all about my experience is the walk it takes to get to the accomodation. But honestly that isn't even a big deal once you realize just how amazing the views are from the top, and how helpful and kind the staff were upon arrival and throughout our stay.

The view from the hostel is absolutely stunning and with the pool overlooking the entirety of Taganga and the bay, it was an amazing experience. Also, the pool was one of the cleanest hostel/hotel pools I have seen in a long time!

There were no sofa as the picture indicates so no really chill place to lay down, only one hamak (in front of a room which was empty). To arrive there you will literally have to climb up as no cars can arrive there (but totally worth it).

Amazing view and tranquility of the place, kitchen available but also good breakfast made by the family! Taganga is only 10min walk.

The walk up is tough but you can do it. I did it with a big and small backpack alright, but if you have suitcases or a lot of things it might be too much for you. The dorm was very basic, when it’s full there’s too many people (more than 10 beds in 1 room) BUT there’s no bunks which is nice. The owner has a strong personality. If you’re nice with her you won’t have a problem, but she wasn’t the friendliest.

I LOVED THE VIEW! A very nice place to hangout, the pool is small but good. Kitchen was basic but good. Overall I would stay again, it’s a great value for your money.

WiFi connection works good enough for working but disconnects from time to time, so don't except too demanding online tasks to work. Bathroom get filled with ants during the night but that's part of the location !

After booking just 2 nights, we finally stayed 6 nights in Hostel Casa Horizonte. The view, the pool, the nice atmosphere makes it a perfect or even the best stay in Casa Horizonte ! We met a lot of people that became our friends and managed to work some mornings. Viviana was super welcoming with a super strong character that is part of that place. The way to the hotel is steep but is the price to pay for the view :-) Don't miss the Pachamama French restaurant if you go there ! Maybe our best days in Colombia. Gracias !

The very steep climb (but the view is worth it!), in the morning there are plenty of bugs and insects nearly everywhere (but completely harmless) and somehow they disappear after some hours again

Super nice staff, good view (after a hard climb), good view with pool! Many opportunities to relax and also play things like table tennis, free filtered water to drink

Nothing - this place offers absolutely great value for the money! So it definitely lived up to our expectations.

Casa Horizonte sits on top of the hills above Taganga - so be prepared for a steep 10 min walk up the hill. However, this location offers a great call getaway from the noisy village of Taganga. The room was cute and clean and there is even a pool in which you have a great view over the pueblo. The family that runs the place is SUPER friendly and helpful and the food is very delicious! I have stayed here twice - once as a backpacker (where I stayed in the dorm) and a second time with my wife (where I stayed at a private room) and both times I was super happy here. If I should ever come back to Taganga, I will consider Casa Horizonte, again 😉

Hostel is uphill. Barely 5 min walk, but VERY steep, so much that it’s unbearable for taxis.

Amazing views and very welcoming people. Lovely cat. Delicious and fairly priced food and bar.

A beautiful home away from home with amazing views

The road to get to the hostal is very steep and you need to be quite fit to walk up it. I had a backpack which was fine but you would find it difficult to drag a suitcase. Also there are a lot of dogs on the way which can be a bit scary (one nipped me). If you don't like dogs then you should reconsider.

The family who run this beautiful hostal are amazing - so kind and funny too :-) I felt quite emotional to leave and say goodbye to Lalinda, Caitlin and little Santiago, it really felt like a home away from home. The view from my room was absolutely stunning ...i could lie in the hammock all day and just look out to Taganga Bay. There are lots of different places to relax like by the pool or on the eating deck upstairs, all with THE BEST view, so peaceful and you get a nice sea breeze in the evenings. Lalinda organised a tour for me and another guest to go to MINCA which was great and very good value for money. I also used the clothes washing service which was great as I am back packing, my clothes were clean and fresh. I like that the owners stay out of your way and you are just free to enjoy, but they are there if you need them and will do their best. There is a kitchen you can use to prepare meals which was very useful for me since I am vegetarian and have quite a strict diet. Also there is drinking water available at no cost so you can refill water bottles - I really liked this because it means less plastic bottles in the world. Breakfast was ikncluded in my room rate - i had great coffee, fresh juice, toast and cheese every day. You can pay a bit extra for cereal, yoghurt and fruits. Lalinda also gave me some of her very delicious potatoe soup one morning!!! The Hostal is really lovely and calm and perfect for a solo traveller. I met some really nice people there too who were also staying. I highly recommend it. It's very easy to get to and from the main town of santa marta by bus or taxi, the buses run very regularly and all go from Taganga to Santa marta and it costs just 2 pesos.

First, you should note that it is located uphill, you'll have to take a *very* steep road to get there. The road is actually so steep that taxis cannot make it (!), so every time you want to come back to the hostel you will have to sweat heavily. Not to mention what happens with luggage. The hostel gives you a number of a taxi driver but he does not work in taganga anymore. Furthermore, the toilet in our room had a water leakage and we woke up with water on the floor and our stuff soaked (the backpack was on the floor). Moreover, the shower smelled bad, they "fixed" but then the shower didn't drain anymore. Anyways, these things can happen I would not bother to write a negative review just because of them. What was really unacceptable was the attitude of the ppl there. They never apologized for what happened, on the contrary they said it was us who flooded the room for washing our clothes (which of course wasn't true, as they had to fix the leaking pipe). They are incredibly arrogant and careless. When we complained about a 5% fee to pay by card, they insulted us and even threatened to call the police :) Colombia is full of nice, welcoming people. Just avoid this place if you want to relax and enjoy your vacation.

The hostal has a great view, but that's all unfortunately
