We were happy to be a little outside of the center of town and felt quite safe walking “home” at night, but guests should be aware that the last block or two is rather dark. Also, it seemed a little odd to be charged extra if you wanted both eggs and oatmeal at breakfast. But that’s a small thing; overall a great stay.

The hotel is quite lovely, combining colonial style with modern convenience. The room was large, airy and filled with light, with a lovely view over the town. Bathroom was ample and functional; wonderful water pressure and hot water. Staff were attentive and personable, always helpful. We were so pleasantly surprised to find that the free secure parking was actually in the hotel building, adjacent to the lobby. Breakfast was tasty, served in the charming open interior courtyard. We’ve been to Villa de Leyva many times but first time in the Maria Bonita. We would gladly return.

Beautiful clean room with an incredible view, lovely courtyard. Staff was very friendly, helpful and attentive and took care to accommodate my vegan diet. The property is just a short walk to the plaza. Area is very quiet at night and black out shades assure a good night’s sleep.

We were only here for three days - we could have stayed a month!

Beautiful, modern facility built with old world charm and style to match the beautiful local architecture. The staff here is wonderful in every way. The charming manager Laura was there to answer all questions and requests, as well as many suggestions for touring the area’s attractions, and including coordinating transportation. The breakfasts were excellent, and made with love. The location is about five blocks from the main square - a perfectly safe walk day or night. All the usual items asked were excellent: hot water, sparkling clean rooms, friendly and professional staff, beautiful building and courtyard. We had a second floor room with beautiful vaulted ceiling. Villa de Leyva is a charming, safe walking town with so many restaurants and bars for a small town. It is the picturesque Colombian town one dreams of staying while writing the world’s next great novel!

To be honest, I am not a picky guest, so there really isn’t something I disliked about this hotel. Anything I may not have liked about this or any other hotel in the area would be based on my experiences in other hotels, in other countries, which would be an unfair comparison. Based on what I know, this hotel is very nice in comparison to the others in the same area.

The property is very clean and maintain well, and staff is very helpful and cordial. Although the area is very safe, the hotel did make sure to lock all doors at all times for the safety and privacy of their guests. The hotel does have parking, which is also behind locked doors, and the breakfast is really good.

breakfast was quite bad for the property level and price. waiters didn’t seem like they wanted to give us attention or a welcoming experience during breakfast. our only sin was arriving at 09:40 to the dining room, 20 minutes before breakfast is ending.

sound travels in the hotel/courtyard, rooms — just lots of hard surfaces so you hear a lot, your neighbors, etc., but not all the time. wasn't enough to ruin the trip in anyway. and wifi crapped out a couple times, but again no big deal.

facility, though 8 years old, and so well-kept it appears as though it is brand new. beautifully well-maintained. lovely staff — fabien was kind and helpful. super conscientious of covid practices which we totally appreciated. delicious breakfast. and nice, quite location, about 5 blocks off the main square plaza mayor.
