Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomArea surrounding the pool was a bit of a building site. Also worth noting many of the tours offered depend on a minimum number of participants to operate, I was lucky to do the night walk even having stayed 4 nights.
Laid back vibe hostel run by good people. Upstairs hammock/lounge area was a great alternative to the midday heat. The nearby beach is huge and great for swimming and surfing - ask about tides beforehand. Cool activity programme on offer. My room had a fan and decent mosquito net over the bed, however I found night-time to be cool enough to go without the fan. Bar downstairs can be noisy (it's a hangout for locals and staff mostly) but clears up by 11pm latest.

United StatesI was treated badly by taxi (tuk tuk ) driver leaving the airport, he was aggressive and overcharged me because i am a foreigner , he treated me so badly that i will not go back to this town again, if you go stay away from this taxi driver , i will post a picture of him, this hotel is awesome and the staff is great and they have nothing to do with the bad taxi driver , the town needs to control the taxi drivers and some of the grocery stores from overcharging foriegners and taking advantage of them
Awesome staff , awesome location , great room , great food

United KingdomIt’s a hostel, so limited sound privacy. Be ready to sleep with a fan and a mosquito net (a very good one is provided in the room) - as that’s typical for the area where humidity is high - it’s part of the experience. The 40-minute tuk-tuk from airport is a little rackety - if you’re not suited to that, arrange a minibus instead.
Utria is a beautiful wooden lodge hostel 2 mins walk from a secluded beach on the Pacific Coast. We were well looked after throughout our stay. Daily activities to see humpback whales, boat tours, turtle hatching and wildlife night walks, all arranged at the hostel the day before. Breakfast, lunch & dinner are available for local cuisine (fresh fish, plantain, coconut rice, frijoles). The thing that will keep you is the hospitality and the Viche cocktails! Can order pizza in locally, to mix it up. Pool for cooling off.

NetherlandsI booked 3 nights but stayed for 15, amazing hostel! Staff and volunteers were so kind and helpful. The food in the restaurant is good and there is a nice bar to have some drinks at night. There is also a kitchen with all you need to cook a meal and a swimming pool with fresh water from the waterfall. The dorm was clean with comfortable beds and they offer a lot of tours. It’s 2 min to the beach and 20 min walk to town. Really loved my stay!

GermanyYou need a lot of cash going there, that was a bit tricky to plan beforehand. The food in this area is always between 25.000-35.000 pesos, good to know to make some calculations:) not a lot of veggie option, but it’s possible!!
The hostel was very close to the jungle, but also only 2 mins away from the beach! You have a great chill area and a kitchen to cook your own stuff (supermarket is in the town). The beds are comfy, but it can also be sometimes a bit loud from people walking around or from the bar (which was okay for us :)). The staff was very friendly and helpful! The tours were expensive, but super! We recommend the jungle tour Bora Bora!

United StatesIt is a bit noisy. Despite attempts to keep it quiet (the common rooms with kitchen close at 10PM and the bar is 11PM) it is actually quite noisy till 11:30-11:40PM (our personal experience). The music stops by 11-11:10PM but it takes 30 min for people to dissipate and stop talking loudly (there is no sound insulation) Given that a lot of tours have a start at 7-8AM (and some at 6!) we really wanted (and were going in previous hotels) to bed at 10PM (and we are night owls normally). I wish they would close a bar at 10PM instead. At least I wish they would stop music earlier. We also have a problem with water. We did not have water on the second and the third floors for several hours in the evening. This is likely not to happen to you. It seems it was one-off problem The hotel is also quite sandy (understandable) and room were not cleaned during our stay (so they became sandy) Overall we had a great stay but you should know about the bar
Great hosts who helped with so many tours: night jungle walk (everyone seems to be doing one) and visiting turtle eco farm (they protect eggs from predators and them release them) Decent and inexpensive food: breakfast, lunch and dinner. Sometimes it is good. Sometimes it is excellent. Quite filling always Close to the beach (but one can't swim there: too dangerous) Great selection of good viches in the bar which closes at 11PM No AC but it turned out it is not as hot and the fan was enough Also +1 for having filtered water and coffee available for free for everyone

I honestly can't recommend this place highly enough. I've been traveling for over a year, and this was one of the best hostel experiences I've had. Terrace is awesome for relaxing, meeting people and hanging out, as well as cooking as that's where the kitchen (so you can cook watching the surrounding nature). Staff is super friendly and helpful. The natural pool (water comes from a nearby waterfall) is fantastic to cool off during the day, and the bar is THE place to be during the evening, where you get to experience El Valle to the fullest, as the locals also come here to hang out - so you get to meet a lot of great people, play some beer pong and have some drinks (try the viche!). I came for a few days and ended up staying a month! If you're thinking about coming to El Valle - please do, it's awesome! And when you do - do yourself a favor and stay in Utria ;)

Germany- there was music (very loud) every night until 11pm…the bar is the party hotspot of the village…we were not expecting that - the toilet/bathroom stank like sewage… - the transport services of the hostel (two times) were either expensive or late/slow…so maybe better to find a service in the village
close to the beach with a nice view of the jungle - you could here the ocean and the jungle sounds at the same time. they organized great tours for us - especially the tour by boat to the waterfall and beach was amazing! Food was great but ask for the specific prizes because they change depending on the dinner
