Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesI was shocked I had to make breakfast reservations for the complimentary breakfast. Personally I like to stroll into breakfast whenever I feel like it vs having to go at a set time. I get why they do it so they can better prepare for the number of guests etc.. I needed to call the front desk the day or night before and tell them what time I'd be having breakfast the next day. The same is true if I wanted to have dinner at the main restaurant or the Italian restaurant; needed to tell them I'd be there and what time. In my case it was raining essentially every day and for me I wasn't going to do any activities; but if I was, I might question when I'd be back or I might think I'd be back and then I'm not. With that it's added stress I don't really want when I'm on vacation. Imagine going out for an activity and then coming back and realize I forgot to make reservations.. then I have to go back out to eat something. Just feels very "un pura vida " :) I should mention the Sushi bar which is open all day after 10 does not need rsvp. I took good advantage of that. Very good Sushi as well as other selections. And you can get a hamburger at the Sushi bar. : ) I'm personally not a big fan of fancy dinners when I'm on vacation and this is what this is. I did it once and the experience was very nice. The food was amazing, one of the best short ribs I've ever eaten. Service is also on point, the staff is very very nice. I also was woken up by, what I thought was a car alarm, or something every night. The first night I called the front desk at about 2am telling them there's a car alarm or something going off. It was chirp or something every 5 seconds I couldn't sleep had to put on music in my earbuds. The second night the noise came back and this time it sounded right outside my villa front door. I realized then it must be one of the forest animals; a bird or something.
The combination Sushi Bar & Hot Springs is my favorite part. You have a swim up bar with bar stools in the hot springs while you enjoy your sushi and cocktails. I also loved that you can park your car at your villa, you have your own parking spot. I also took advantage of a massage while I was there. Just a 60minute massage something I don't normally do at a Hotel on vacation. It was very nice. The Greenery in and around the facilities are emaculate, very beautiful.

CanadaIf you get room at the far end it is a bit of a walk to get to the pools but the grounds are gorgeous so it's a nice walk.
I travelled in off season so it was not crowded which was great. The pools were lovely, there was enough variety to change up temperatures, two bars in the pools. Only a small fresh water pool but I didn't even go in it as the thermal springs were so lovely. The free yoga every morning was a great bonus. Breakfast didn't have many vegatarian options but I didn't starve. There was lots of wildlife on the property, lizards, frogs and birds.

United StatesNothing to dislike. Loved every part of our stay!
The resort was absolutely beautiful and the amenities were amazing. The security there was excellent; a staff member at every street leading to the bungalows. My favorite amenity was the hot springs pool bar. The breakfast buffet was outstanding. The food was delicious and such a wide variety. Loved the smoothie bar. The staff was awesome! Always available to help and so kind and pleasant. Our concierge Edward was so knowledgeable and helpful. Loved the animals our housekeeper staff made everyday with the blankets. I highly recommend this place to anyone who plans on visiting La Fortuna.

Exceptional breakfast with lot of options including make your omelet and sandwiches, fresh fruit juices. Would definitely go back if ever came back to Costa Rica.
