Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SloveniaSince the property is located on a hill, there are some stairs to climb to reach it. Breakfast is served. Buffet style would be better, especially when there are many people and you have to wait for quite some time to be served.
Located very close to the entrance of Manuel Antonio National Park. Shops and restaurants nearby. Short walk to the beach. Friendly staff. 2 swimming pools. Nice view of the surrounding area to the ocean from the terrace. Monkeys playing on the roof and in tree tops make for enjoyable animation. First stay at a container hotel! Would stay at this property again!

Costa RicaManagement needs to pay attention to details: the floor of the bathroom needs to be painted, some furniture was chipped, no trash bin for the main room, small towels for shower, no TV shows unless you enter your Netflix credentials.
The people were great, nice service, nice food, view from the restaurant and room, very original to sleep in a room made of a container.

United KingdomThe entrance to the rooms is at the front and you enter with a key card. I locked myself out twice, because I went out to look at the views over the balcony, shut the door behind me to keep the cool air in and the bugs out, leaving my keycard inside by mistake. Actual locks (that you turn with a key) would be better for this type of hotel.
Cool concept (using old shipping containers to create the rooms), good location right next to the entrance to Manuel Antonio NP, nice pool(s), lovely views and nice and quiet (here was the best I slept in 10 days). The staff we really friendly and helpful too.

Costa RicaIt is definitely a climb to get up to the rooms. There is a staff member with a golf cart that took us up a couple of times but he wasn’t always available. We didn’t really mind the climb (I mean what could we expect with an ocean view that was less than a 10 minute walk to the beach) but we think it’s something definitely to consider if coming with kids or someone older. Also wifi was great our first day (we think there were very few people that day). It became a little spotty the next day as more people began to arrive.
We loved our stay here! we booked the cheapest room (pool view) & when we arrived they gave us a free upgrade to an ocean view. The view was amazing! We were honestly so impressed by this place & shocked by the bad reviews. The room was perfect for a couple. The bed was big, A/C worked amazingly & the hot water was great. The breakfast was amazing & they give you several options. The place is a less than 10 minute walk to the beach & it’s a less than 5 minute walk to the Manuel Antonio National Park entrance. If we’re ever in Manuel Antonio again, we are definitely staying here.

DenmarkCan be bit of a steep hill to climb. But they are very helpful with fairing you up and down if you want.
The location is really nice. Close to the national park, and not far from the beach. There is a good restaurant onsite so you can sit and enjoy a really good view over the water with sunset and all. There are two pools one for the kids and an infinity type one at the restaurant that you can use to see the sunset.

United Kingdomthe room is a bit small but it depends on how much time you want to spend in it.
right next to the entrance of manuel antonio national park. really convenient because you do not need to drive to get to park. it's a bit pricey but if you go somewhere else further away from the park you'd have to pay for parking so what you could save in accomodation would even out with the parking fee. breakfast is good.

EstoniaI stayed in El Faro for 4 days, I have to admit that I went with no expectations as I saw some bad reviews but as another hotel was overbooked, I gave it a try and I really enjoyed my stay! The ocean view was beautiful, the breakfast was served beautifully, and the room was well-designed and clean, although the room was relatively small, everything was thought through very well and it was comfy. The bed was comfy. The staff was helpful and friendly, always giving a ride up the hill if needed. I would stay again if visiting Manuel Antonio.

CanadaThe wifi is really bad, I couldn't check in to my flights, as it kept disconnecting. The food at the restaurant is not that great. The elevator wasn't working, so we had to climb the stairs up and down, after walking up the steep incline to the start of the hotel. We were never given the safe key, so we had to walk down to get it, they advertise there's a hairdryer in the room, but there isn't. When we asked for one, they couldn't provide it.
The air conditioning was great, the location to Manuel Antonio Park is great. The wildlife is abundant there. The staff was nice to let us checkout a couple of hours later, so we could enjoy the beach before our shuttle picked us up. We found it fairly quiet at night except for the fact the restaurant is above us, so we heard chairs and tables etc scrapping the floor during the evening and starting early in the morning. The beds were actually really comfy. Nice infinity pool. Freshly squeezed pineapple juice in the morning is really good.

CanadaThe property is on a very steep hill and it was hard to go up all those steps in that heat. However, the staff were always happy to give us a ride whenever they passed by or we could call on them when necessary. People with physical difficulties should probably consider another hotel.
The view from my room and the restaurant was spectacular!!! I did yoga on my deck early morning it was amazing. The staff was nice and helpful. The pool was kept clean and so was my room. The beech very close, maybe 5 min walk.
