Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesWell, it's impossible to think of anything negative. I forgot to mention how super the breakfast was!
This property is a true piece of paradise. From the minute we entered the grounds, we were overcome by how beautiful and natural it all is. Jasmine greeted us with such enthusiasm, taking care of us for our entire stay. The entire staff, including Byron and Elizabeth (?) couldn't have been more attentive and gracious. We were visiting our niece who is serving in the Peace Corps nearby, so it was a beautiful time for her to swim in the gorgeous pool (a tropical nirvana,) eat the fabulous farm-to-table dinners, chill out in the hammock. We have to give kudos to the owners who've developed this property, respecting nature SO much, creating a laid-back but exciting atmosphere with beautiful hikes, yoga pavilion - something for everyone. My husband was grateful for the smoking platform, removed from everything, but very comfortable. We lucked out with this stay and I will be back next year!

Kind and professional staff, beautiful natural surroundings, high standard of cleanliness, fantastic ethos around sustainability and taking care of the natural world, interesting and informative tours on offer on site, wonderful help provided in organising off site tours too. The restaurant serves wholesome food and drinks in generous portions with a focus on farm to table… The whole place oozes calm, beauty and celebrates the natural world. The restaurant/bar and pool area are inviting and sympathetic to the natural surroundings. A place where families, couples and singles can all enjoy a holiday that is as relaxing or as adventurous as your appetite demands!

United StatesNot a single complaint.
This was the best family lodge we have ever stayed at. It exceeded our expectations in every way. The food was great, we felt very welcome, the staff was extremely kind. I was worried about being outside of town, and “stuck” eating the food there - but I wish I could have their meals each night after we left the lodge. Plus, the drinks (coffee drinks $4, cocktails and smoothies $6-$7) were so affordable. We missed this place after we left to Samara where everything was 30% more - even the little sloth stuffed animal we bought in the gift shop. We enjoyed all of the onsite tours - farm tour was a highlight. I would come back to try the herbal workshop. And heard the chocolate tour was great.

United StatesThe property is part of an ecologically conscious project. In the morning and at night animal sounds are fascinating. Food is mainly self produced. It is kid friendly and has a pool. The property also has a bird watching tower.

United StatesThis is not really a criticism. The rooms are comfortable and are cabins with multiple bedrooms. Some beds are in the open sitting room areas that do not have A/C. 2 of our rooms had A/C which was adequate for us.
The overall facility is fantastic. You can see an exceptional amount of birds. The limited number of guests allowed for a relaxing experience. The facility is a 30 year old farm and all the food is farm to table. Every meal was just amazing. The staff are tremendously helpful and there is a lot to do just on the property. There are 2 areas for bird watching, a local trail, herb classes, and so on. We honestly loved this place so much!

United KingdomI loved all of it. My 11 year old is a bit of a fussy eater so sometimes dinner was a bit limited for her
Beautiful location. We saw so much wildlife just walking around the farm. The birdsong was incredible and it was the perfect place to start our Costa Rican adventure. The drive alone to the farm was stunning. The accommodation had everything we needed and staff were very friendly. We loved going up the bamboo tower to see the birds and get a peek at the volcano. Having a dip in the pool after a day of hiking was just what we needed.

Absolutely stunning lodge with delicious food, a relaxing pool area, and the sounds of nature all around. The rooms are spotless with all the amenities you could need. I loved hanging out in our hammock listening to bird song all around. The staff are also super friendly and accommodating. It is pretty far from La Fortuna so just bear that in mind if you are booking. However we loved the location and the hotel are great about organising transport to and from the lodge. I wish we could’ve stayed longer!

CanadaThe property is gorgeous and relaxing. Our family bungalow was comfortable and spacious, with a fabulous veranda and cozy seating. The staff were lovely, the food was fabulous. It is a small boutique resort, so it felt very homey and quiet. Pura Vida! We also saw two sloth!

United KingdomNot very close to other amenities although this is probably why we were able to see such wonderful and abundant wildlife.
The sheer volume and variety of birds. It was absolutely amazing to see so many different types of birds. The eco ethos was very much evident - the dinner buffet and the breakfast had little labels t o show what each item was and whether it had been grown on the farm - so much had been!

United KingdomNothing. The only thing I would say is that the rooms can get a bit smelly from the drains, but it's not that bad.
The room was spacious, and the staff were friendly and knowledgeable. They booked all our excursions, which makes it a lot easier, and outside our family lodge, we witnessed a Sloth sleeping for 16 hours and finally waking up just before we left, to feed and have a scratch! Incredible! Was a great stay. Waking up and sitting outside listening to the rainforest wildlife was a great experience in itself! Well worth a visit.

United KingdomThe booklet in the room is a bit heavy on rules and regulations and it felt a bit like being introduced to the place by a school teacher. We understand the place is a passion project and the owners are trying to maintain an atmosphere and eco principles. But it might be nice to trust your guests a bit more - they’re there to have a nice, fun and relaxing time!
We fell in love with this place a little bit. The restaurant does a fantastic job, and prices are reasonable considering what you’re getting. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The gardens are teeming with wildlife: we recommend the night walk.

We loved our stay! Our family of 5 had an amazing time. We did the cow milking experience, which exceeded our expectations. We learned so much and spent so much time with Thomas and his kind staff. They were incredible. The food was all right from the farm and was absolutely delicious. The coffee was great, our margaritas were excellent. We had the most relaxing, educational, perfect beginning to our vacation in Costa Rica. Thank you!
