How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Excellent location, lovely staff, great restaurant on site, free wildlife! Saw a sloth up close while having lunch, nice refreshing pool, an area to look for frogs at night, big rooms with comfy beds, lovely breakfast 😊

This hotel is on the edge of town along a river, quiet and tranquil. Away from the “tourist” section of town. The staff was kind and helpful. There were several choices for breakfast, all delicious. The bakery next door was excellent.

Spacious room with two double beds. Outdoor seating. Some nice greenery on site with small wooded area backing onto river. Reception and restaurant waiting staff were extremely friendly. Located off the main road so was quiet but only a very short walk to all of the restaurants and bars.

We wanted to buy shuttle tickets to Monteverde and where told a higher price than expected. When we checked for prices at a tour office arround the corner we got the shuttle tickets for less money. So I would not recommend to book something at the hotel without checking prices somewhere else first.
The hotel has a great location, we had a view on the vulcano from our porch. The room was very big and comfortable. Breakfast is served at the nice little hotel restaurant right by the river.

Drain in shower would backup every time. There may be a partial block in the line. Front door is not easy to lock. There should be a phone in the rooms for connection to the front desk.
Great. Luis and Olga the best. They did so much extra for us

we had no internet in the rooms which wasn’t great at all. I would really appreciate if that was fixed for future. the guys at the bamboo gardens wasn’t the friendliest:
all was nicely kept and super clean.

Everythig was great.
Great location, lovely staff and very good breakfast! Swimming pool was also very nice and clean. Garden around the hotel is also very nice.

It was a nice room with all the basic amenities, including fluffy blankets. It wasn't cozy and there was not much chance to watch TV in English (no extra service for English speaking guests), but these are the picky things. I would recommend and stay again. We might have had an upgraded room. I'm not sure....
The room was a nice size for three people, and the bathroom was fine. There was a nice patio in front of our room, and the property itself was not only convenient but also carried a little of the rainforest vibe with the cafe and little walk in the woods behind the hotel. The reception help was fantastic, too! Pleasant, safe, comfortable.

Wifi wasn’t amazing but didn’t bother me.
The staff were really helpful. whether it was restaurant or front desk they were all happy to help. pretty gardens and nice little restaurant. close to some of my other favourite restaurants too. A couple sloths liked to hang out in the trees

Weak internet, but that's about it.
Sloth, toucans and frogs in the backgarden area. Fantastic location right next to the little town, but with a river and wildlife in the garden. Clean room, nice, but smallish, pool. Friendly staff both in reception and breakfast. Nice breakfast with a good choice of food.

The rooms were a bit dated and the only time I got bit by mosquitos was in the small back garden. (Next time I would just use bug spray).
The staff were extremely friendly! The breakfast was great! The room was spacious and the shower was big with great water pressure. Would definitely stay there again if back in La Fortuna.

The rooms were super clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We also saw many animals on the grounds of the hotel. The kids loved the pool. We will definitely stay here when we come back to town.

Free breakfast was included - and it was stellar. The rooms are decently sized and the showers are very large! Plus, rooms have balconies and views of the volcano, what more could you ask for.

Great property! really close to the main road through Fortuna and a short walk to shops, restaurants, and a park. Friendly staff all spoke very good English, which was helpful for me as my Spanish is limited. The rooms were clean and spacious. I had a nice little balcony to overlook the river, too. The bathroom was huge! it was nice.
