How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Very small room, lacks character. An electrical box was placed in front of the room which made a terrible noise all day and night.
The situation is perfect for access to the Manuel Antonio National Park- the entrance is about a 3 minute walk! The breakfast is very good but one day was buffet and the next day not, so unclear how this operates normally. Dinner was reasonable. Staff were very friendly and helpful

The room we booked was actually in Espadilla Gardens hotel - a separate property down the road. Not really a big deal, but it meant that our stay started with being sent off with our luggage (after a very long drive). It also meant that you had to walk up along the road to the sister property for breakfast. The room was fine but very small and quite dark - compared to other places we have stayed in Costa Rica it was not good value for money. The most irritating thing was the breakfast time - we had chosen the hotel specifically because it is so close to the park, and we wanted to be there for opening time (7am), but breakfast only starts at 7, and reception only opens at 7 too. You can get breakfast to go, but you need to pick it up at 7, slightly delaying your arrival at the park. Not a huge deal, but be aware if you are booking for the reasons we did! When we did have breakfast at the hotel the following day, it was fine.
The location is great - very close to the park and bars/restaurants. The laundry service is very fast. Staff were friendly.

I want a comfortable sleeping experience but couldn't get one. Either too hot or too cold during the night. I want coffee first thing in the morning. Yes, there was a coffee maker, but even after getting secrect instructions, I could not get it to make coffee. Also, I am a smoker and wasn't allowed to smoke even outside in the open air. I had to leave the preperty completely. Just an exercise of power.
I wasn't impressed. Should be able to show up with your room key and be served. They had some kink of reservation requirement and coupons to use that I didn't understand. Never ate in their restaurant

not en-suit path to facilities is a straight up hill from the beach. ok for young people but a challenge if you are not in great shape.

Our bathroom had dozens of ants in it. Bed was ok. Far away from restaurants.
Great outdoor space with the pools and the room itself was clean! The hotel staff were incredibly helpful and friendly! The proximity to the park was great!

Staffs were variable, some were extremely friendly and helpful others weren't. Smelly bathroom despite recent remodel, their plumbing is done all wrong and the sewage smell was yucky. No sound proof.
Pool. Location. Vegitarian option at morpho restaurant. Nice security guard. Nice garden. Lots of animals! Recent remodel of the shower. House keeping did nice job. balcony. Nice garden.

Overpriced but I guess Manuel Antonio a very expensive location overall.
Great location few meters walk from the beach, there are not many other options as close to the beach as this hotel. It has a private reserve that is great to visit. Fair buffet breakfast and room amenities.

We didn't actually get to stay at the resort. We had a family emergency and I forgot to cancel. I bet the place is nice, and wish they had offered for us to rebook at a later date, or even discounted our 'not' visit but unfortunately they weren't understanding at all. Probably a nice place, although not the most kind or understanding people.
