Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThis is my third visit to Costa Rica and second visit at this property. Therefore, we made it our goal to include this hotel in our itinerary because of the exceptional service.I enjoy coming back to my room after a long day of activities. The rooms were clean, very comfortable, and the staff was amazing. They went over and beyond to help make our stay enjoyable. I always have a wonderful experience here. Can’t wait to see them again.

CanadaA bit noisy, there was something like a pump or motor that kept turning on and off during the night. A far from the main attractions and restaurants.
Very spacious room, nice breakfast included in the price. Friendly staff. Beds were ok.

CanadaI was sad I didn’t get to see a sloth while I was staying there. Would have loved to have morning coffee and see one! This is the only thing bad I can say about this place and they have zero control about it!
LOVED our room at Yara! We scored the best room with a great private patio just off the pool! The room was huge, modern and clean! They had a small fridge, dishes and microwave in the room. We loved relaxing on the patio so much that we decided to order in both nights! The pools are nice, with a beautiful backdrop of the jungle. They had beautiful artwork in the lobby. The breakfast was yummy, with several options to pick from. The staff was great! Loved the patio by the breakfast area. Saw some monkeys there! They suggested to the marina in Quepos and it was great to see the huge boats. The local beach is great. You can rent a chair and umbrella

United StatesNothing...there was nothing I did not like everything was PERFECT.
Room was AMAZING, enough space,, a breathtaking view of the forest side. Breakfast which was included, a la carte (which I think is great avoids people wasting food) it was great quality. The access to the main road and the transportation to the beach and park was convenient, had to walk only half a block to take the bus. The Hotel has a beautiful art gallery. Caleb and Patricia were super nice and accommodating. I did not get to use the pool but it was really nice and the set up was calm.

United StatesBecause it is on a busy road there is traffic noise when you are outside.
Rooms were spacious; there is a nice pool for swimming and another plunge pool in quiet pool area, surrounded by wildlife and greenery. Breakfast was good in a nice space. If you need a place as a base to explore, this is a very comfortable option. Restaurant up the road is also good. We were able to take a shower even after we checked out when we returned hot and sweaty from our hike.

United KingdomWe were in room 9 which meant we had a restricted view of the forest due to the roof on the outside terrace. We chose this hotel so we could hopefully see the animals which we did but as not clear as other rooms. Also for us the furniture on the balcony was very uncomfortable we could see furniture on other balconies and it looked much better.
The hotel was very nice and in good location with forest just outside our room where we saw monkeys toucans and scarlet macaw. The staff were excellent and helped us organise tours and transfers. The breakfast was good and served by staff who were always happy. The size of the room was really good and the little touches of coffee sugar and milk to make coffee was exceptional.

United KingdomThe car park is just after a bend on the road, so you have to be careful reversing out. Only a minor point, but still easily my favourite hotel of our Costa Rica trip in which we travelled all over the country.
This hotel blew me away. The attention to detail here is first class. The art work throughout is so well thought out and puts you in an even better mood. All the small touches here add up to a big difference. The staff are amazing, we loved Nelson. So kind and helpful and gave us a leaving gift too. The rooms are massive and cleaned daily. The beds are comfortable. The pool is in a very tropical setting. There was ample parking out front. Breakfast was good too. Can’t say enough good things about this place.

I can't say enough about how wonderful our stay was. Staff was amazingly friendly and helpful and we were needy because we'd not been to Costa Rica before and wanted suggestions. Fresh fruit and made to order hot breakfast every day always delicious. And Yara, the little Frenchie, was the high point for our 4 year old granddaughter. Howler monkeys greeted us several mornings. Location perfect for both Quepos and Manuel Antonio within a few short minutes. Room was large, spotless and beds very comfortable. THANKYOU to everyone at Playa Yara for all you did to make our trip wonerful!

United StatesNothing. Everything was perfect!
Beautiful, sophisticated boutique hotel that abuts lush vegetation. My favorite part was the extremely spacious room with beautiful floor to ceiling windows looking onto the jungle. Super spacious and well appointed--netflix, microwave, popcorn, coffee, huge shower with very hot water/good pressure. The pool area was also lovely and well landscaped. Staff was exceptional, efficient, and friendly. Breakfast was great too! Lots of opportunity to see the local wildlife on the grounds including Capuchin monkeys, Howler monkeys, and Macaws. But perhaps my favorite "local" wildlife was Yara the namesake pug on premise and a white cat that would greet me every night. This is a gem of a hotel with great value for the price and this was hands down the best place I stayed in during my entire trip!

North MacedoniaHotel Plaza Yara is a great facility located on a hill on the road to Manuel Antonio national park. Its immediate proximity to a forest overlooking the pool area and the patio made our stay wonderful. Before the day was up and about, we were lucky enough to witness the beautiful blue Morpho butterfly as well as a pair of Scarlet Macaw parrots from the hotel's patio and our room's terrace - events that marked the end of an unforgettable Costa Rica trip. Our room was incredibly big and spacious, able to accommodate four people, very clean and nicely furnished. It had all the necessary amenities, a huge private terrace and the most comfortable king sized bed! A big and varied breakfast was included in the price, with a few options to choose from and lots of fresh fruits. The staff at the hotel was super nice and helpful, always ready with valuable tips about dinner-places or tourist attractions. Finally, the hotel's reception is a striking gallery-turned-reception, exhibiting paintings from local artists that are also available for purchase. We would recommend this place to everyone visiting Manuel Antonio region!
