Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IrelandThe breakfast area is small but that is keeping with the old charm of the hotel, but it doesn't impact on your stay, do yourself a favour and book this hotel
This is a wonderful hotel located in the main square, the jotel is a listed building but it's interior was very tastefully modernised without effecting the character of the hotel, our room was excellent, it faced out onto the square and was really spacious, the breakfast was fantastic with great choices for a couple of days, even though the presentation area is small, the food keeps coming, the staff are all attentive and excellent at their jobs from reception to housekeeping and especially the waiters, one in particular was a fabulous guy who went above and beyond, his name was Prokop,he should teach other people in this line of work how customer relations is done, we cannot speak highly enough of this hotel and staff which made it a wonderful stay for us in Cesky Krumlov

United KingdomThe bathrooms had a bath with a shower attached to the bath taps. The side of the bath was rather high and the roof over it sloped so made it difficult to get in for us being 'seniors' When we booked the rooms we were told we had each been upgraded to a deluxe room, but the comparison between the room we had and that of our friends was notably different. They had a large airy room with patio doors onto a balcony whereas we had a room which had sloping ceilings, only 1 small window and appeared quite dark. We are both quite small, but both still managed to bump our heads once. We didn't complain, as we hadn't paid for a deluxe room and were only staying one night, but it might be worth noting if booking a deluxe room.
The hotel was ideally located in the main square in Cesky Krumlov. The staff were very pleasant and there were plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby. Our room was on the third floor which was the top floor and there were quite a number of stairs to walk up as there were no lifts. Although we could manage these stairs, some people might find them more difficult and if you feel this might be a problem, it might be advisable to see if you can arrange a room on a lower floor. The staff did however offer to carry any luggage up to the rooms.

SlovakiaThere was no elevator so we had to carry our luggage up the two floors and there was some smell from the kitchen downstairs in the room in the evening. Another matter, which affects all hotels in Krumlov, is that there is some distance to the parking location but the hotel drove us back with our luggage when we asked them.
Centrally located, the staff very friendly and the room was spacious and comfortable

BulgariaThe only think that I did not like is the fact that in the restaurant they do not accept card payments, even the hotel itself does it. The reception has POS terminal, where we paid for our stay. I was very surprised when I received the bill and it had been written: "We accept cash only payments". It was in CZK and in EUR and of course the amount in EUR was at a very low exchange rate. For example we paid 109 EUR for 2400 CZK, while with the card we should have paid 95.41 EUR. This is the cost of one meal in another restaurant in Czesky Krumlov. It is not about the money, as the Restaurant in Hotel Grand is top: taste & presentation (congratulation to the Chef, who even came to ask us personally), service, live music and at the end, you feel scammed. I do not see the problem to get a POS terminal also for the restaurant or even to use the one from the reception. Honestly, I thought that these tricks for tourists so popular in Czech long time ago are over. It seems not. And definitely I was not expected to see them in such a class place .....
The location is perfect. At the old town square. Close to the Castle. Czesky Krumlov is an UNESCO world heritage place and you can not drive in it. After the booking we had received a message from the hotel with very detailed instructions how to proceed with the parking. I did not read it and found another parking place. Even we did not follow the instructions, the young lady at the reception was extremely polite and advised us how to find a solution: going in the tourist office, get a day ticket which is valid for all parking in the town. Thank you very much! The hotel is in charming old building, with thick walls, narrow round stairs... but extremely clean. Our room was at the third floor, very spacious, clean, comfortable king size bed, down duvets. Breakfast was very good. Big variety of products. In our case the ratio Value / Money was more then excellent!

United StatesThe ceiling of the shower room is too low. My height is 57, I only can squat and flush; otherwise, it will definitely hurt my shoulders and head.

Hong KongWe were located in the 3rd floor (top floor of the hotel). The roofs are sloped - making it impossible to stand up straight in the shower if you are taller than 5'2. Instructions for parking/entering the town were not very clear. While there is a hotel shuttle service (white van) , outside cars aren't allowed into the town before 3pm. At no fault of the hotel, the parking staff also gave us a hard time - although all was solved when the hotel staff arrived. There is also a valet service if you make it to the hotel after 3pm - where you drive your car by the hotel and they will park it for you after you unload your luggages. Walking from the parking lot with large luggages is difficult with the up/downhill stone roads.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, dinner at the restaurant is great. The rooms were large and clean. Overall, great value for money.

ChinaThe bed was not as comfortable as we thought it would be. Also, the bathtub was right below the sloped ceiling so even if you're not tall, you'd still need to be careful when you stand up or you might just hit your head. Oh yeah, there is no elevator so prepare to climb stairs especially if you're carrying big luggage.
We liked it's location and the staff there manning the place as they were friendly. The room given to us was very spacious as it was the attic on the third floor. It's suitable for families with a couple of kids too as there were sofas in it. The bathroom was large and very clean. We could see the castle clearly through the windows in both the bedroom and the washroom. Breakfast came with the room, and it had a spread of many breakfast dishes to choose from including yogurt in a bottle which we really liked. Since it was off season, we had the whole place almost to ourselves except for a handful of fellow traveller's. Oh, and do try to have dinner in the hotel' restaurant. We ate a three-course meal and it was delicious as the dishes were freshly prepared. The bartender cum waiter was also very attentive. All in all, we think it's good value for our money.

Czech RepublicThe bed made my back hurt. There were no bottles of water for guests. One of the guests smoked cigarettes in the hotel in the hallway and the smoke travelled into our room. No one with authority did anything about the smoking inside the hotel.
Breakfast is excellent. The kitchen staff were very polite and attentive. The hotel is charming and well located. Our room had a nice view of the square. The desk staff made sure our car was parked safely and also to return us to it at check out.
