How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

there was no lift! very big problem for people who have to carry heavy suitcases more than one floor!
the room was very big, nicely furnished and pleasant to stay in. the bed was comfortable, the bathroom was lovely.

Sadly no breakfast is provided in the hotel itself - but we knew that from the description. Early morning can be noisy with delivery vehicles outside.
The hotel was very close to the Rathous and Cathedral. Everything was easily accessible with many restaurants and cafes nearby. Our room was very spacious and the bed really comfortable. The lady at checkout was very friendly. Self-check in worked without a hitch and the instructions for it were very clear.

Would prefer manned reception, 2nd night when raining loud dripping noise onto metal plate kept us awake.

The instructions were not 100 clear! They should write instruction as for a 6 year old.
Situated in a great part of town, right in the thick of things but quit inside. I arrived late, with OK instructions to get in. Lady at desk in the morning was a happy smily person, so a great start of the day.

The only negative was the hotel did not offer breakfast
I went for the Christmas market and they were literally right outside as I stepped out the front door

Some of the furniture looked old and could need replacement but that is not hindering a comfortable stay
The location is very good. All major spots in the old town are easily accessible. The staff is also very welcoming and friendly. We could leave our bags until three after check-out

The hotel looks a bit tired, damp patches in bath room and no lift for luggage in action during the Christmas holidays. Also the hotel offers no breakfast

Nothing, the stay was very pleasant. If I had to find something, I would have to say: There was no place to hang my coat besides a wardrobe, so if it would have been raining that might have been a problem.
The Hotel room was very tidy and well equipped with all that I needed for my stay: A warm bed, hot shower and a desk and strong WiFi-6 to do remote work. Bathroom was very spacious and had a bidet, a thing I usually miss in European hotels. Staff was very friendly and helpful as well.

Nothing to dislike.
Always a warm welcome, desk is not always open but you receive check in codes before you arrive. We have good conversations in the mornings. Aachen preparing for the Christmas markets.

No breakfast available, no elevator, just quite narrow and steep stairs. This was not a surprise - they did warn beforehand, but still it was a bit inconvenient. The streets were noisy at night, but only if you wanted to keep the window open.
Excellent location on the market square, beautiful view from the windows, convenient room in a small hotel. Most friendly and helpful host! Loads of cafes and restaurants next door.

The room we’ve got was not comfortable at all, unfortunately. We had glass doors to the toilet right in front of the bed, meaning anyone who goes there at night wakes up the other one. Also there was no a/c so we have slept with opened window, but it was hard to do so as it is super noisy outside from the central square.
We were attending Formula 1 GP at Spa and have chosen this hotel for its absolutely reasonable price. The hotel was right in the city center, close to good city parking and to restaurants and cafe for dinner. The hotel crew was absolutely amazing. Super polite and kind to recommend us anything we were asking about.
