Clean and funcional room with great bathroom. Single bed was comfortable, and the room was spacious and quiet. Solid breakfast - all in all very good value for the money.

The room we stayed in was far away from the elevator, had to pass through some long hallways that looked almost like a maze, but i didn't find that actually disturbing, it was rather interesting to be in such a big old hotel. During the night there was a constant sound coming from the walls or from outside, like water drops falling (although it was not raining) and it went on until the morning.

Good location, close to the city center and public transport. Easy to go to the central railway and airport (only a few train stops away). Old building but very well maintained, clean and confortable. The staff is great, especially the gentleman serving the breakfast (i am sorry i didn't ask his name) who has been working in the hotel for more than 40 years and the ladies from the cleaning, who greeted us with candies and nice words. Congratulations for choosing such good people to work in the hotel. Also, good breakfast with plenty of choices and a very good german salad. good heating system, it could be turned on and off when desired. Free bottles of water in the room :). Overall i recommend booking a room in this hotel.

What I did not like was how you access your room. The hallways were a bit grim and too twisted, every time I was trying to find my room, it was like a big maze - very chaotic and disorganised. Also, there was super easily an access to places, where you were not supposed to go - like the heating compartment and industrial type of basement. It was looking like a normal part of the property without any warning or specific instructions. Another thing I did not like was the view from my room - I was looking at an office building at close distance where everyone could see what I do, next to my window was a construction work scaffolding and I was on the first floor so people could look at me and theoretically easily climb to my room from the walking path. Last remark I have is about the wall thickness and especially noise isolation - everything is clearly heard from the neighbouring rooms. Some people in the room next to me were not even that loud - I was able to hear all of their conversations clearly and distinctly. So if you are seeking privacy, maybe this is not the best option for you. Last remark - the room had no fridge. This for me was actually a bonus because I stayed short enough and I do not like fridges in my room because they make too much noise and disrupt my sleep. Nevertheless, I recommend the hotel as value for money.

The hotel was well-situated in terms of transport connections - 5 minutes walk from Hamburg Dammtor and on 1 minute walk from the U-Bahn. The room was a great value for the money I paid - spacious enough, personall was friendly. Bathroom was also nice and the most important to me - bed was comfortable and especially pillows were perfect - not too soft like in the most hotels, not too hard. Curtains were well so no light pollution while sleeping. There was no fridge, but that can be a downside as well.

Everything was great overall, perhaps the heating was a bit too high in the rooms so I had to open the window a couple of times; but as I travelled by the end of November (winter) probably it's a central system setup... but I'd rather a bit of more heat than being cold at night!

Very well maintained building (renovated from offices, it seems). Very clean and cozy rooms with minibar, a welcome bottle of sparkling water, and renovated bathroom. The breakfast is very delicious as it has a big variety of foods (cereal, ham, cheeses, coffee, tea, plus some special german salads and desserts). The staff was friendly and very helpful. The hotel is near the train station (just about 6 minute walk) which connects easily with the airport (20 min ride). On the other side, it connects to a trendy restaurants/shopping area near the river.

Uncomfortable twin beds (although a double bed was requested) with two short single blankets. Breakfast with shortage of fresh fruits and a few dirty plates.

The sofa bed could have been more comfortable

We had a really good 3 night stay here. Our room was surprisingly large, and had ample storage. The minibar was good value, and breakfast had a wide range of items. And I have no idea if this is common for hotels in Germany, but we were staying over St Nicholas Day and returned to our room to find that the man himself had visited and left us each some chocolate! Conveniently-located for both the main station and the airport.

Hotel lobby was modern and new. Some rooms were renovated and some were not. Though we got an old room it was big and comfortable. Location was convenient, U bahn was beside the hotel, many cafe and bakery nearby. Breakfast was also very good, we like it. Everything went smoothly until check out. The lady at reception insisted that we have not paid our stay even though we showed her payment confirmation on booking.com and credit card statement. At our insistence, she finally checked their system and realised we have paid through booking.com. She should have done that right at the beginning! It was very distressing as we almost missed our train because of that. After everything, she still asked us to pay a city tax which was not communicated to us prior. It was an unexpected payment as the man told us that all payments were cleared when we checked in. The amount we paid on booking.com was also clearly indicated that it’s inclusive of all taxes. As we were rushing for the train, we did not have time to argue with her and just paid the taxes. However, it was an extremely unpleasant experience which left a sour taste in our mouth.

I was attended a multi-day conference at the CCH, which was a short walk from the Aster-Hof and a fraction of the price of the international brand hotel adjacent to the CCH. Breakfast was EXCEPTIONAL, and included in the room price as was free wifi. The staff was also very nice and helpful, as well. My room was a single, which suited my needs, and included a bathroom with shower, desktop, armchair, built in two-tier luggage stand, closet with hangers, a mini-bar refrigerator, and a room safe. Nothing more or less than I needed. PERFECT.

This particular room was newly refurbished and modern. Very nice. Mind you, they still have very old rooms in some of the hotel, which is not very nice and with very thin walls, but the new rooms are nice.
