How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence

To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Be aware that there's no lift. You can still arrange to leave any large suitcase downstairs. It was never a problem.
Very clean room. Lovely deco. Coffee machine available in the room is a plus. Really not much to complain about. Our stay was perfect.

Being close to the main train station, there were some "characters" on the street. This is no fault of the hotel whatsoever, and it's probably a sign of the changing times. Just keep this in mind, the immediate area isn't ideal for a late-night stroll. Inside the hotel, it's secure and charming. The price was excellent and you're about 1.5 blocks from the train station as well as the U-Bahn.
Very charming, old-world small hotel in a convenient location to the main train station. The room had a foyer, bathroom, bedroom, coffeemaker, TV, and armoire. It included Wi-Fi. There was a breakfast area downstairs. The breakfast cost a little extra, but it was very good. I appreciated that the host also made gluten-free options available. Everything was clean, quiet, secure, and tasteful. I'm glad I stayed here because I needed easy access to the Hauptbahnhof.

The bed was creaking and made noises.the mattress was comfortable though.
The staff/owner was very friendly . The room is very clean. It was cleaned every morning with fresh towels, which hotels normally don't do anymore.

Very helpful and friendly staff. Very pleased with my room - bigger than I expected and with a generously sized en-suite bathroom. Although close to the main railway station (I could see it from my room) it was a quiet location so I was very pleased with my choice. In the mornings there was a good breakfast (more choices than are shown in the photos on Booking.com) so I certainly didn't start the day feeling under-fed! It was handy location from which to explore the places I had picked out to visit, using a combination of walking and U-Bahn.

Close to a fairly gritty neighbourhood
Very quiet, spacious room with old-fashioned charm. Very comfortable bed. A set of bathroom scales. Very close to the main Hamburg railway station.

The street isn't very attractive and the wider area is a bit seedy (although the immediate surroundings of the hotel are fine). We stayed there with small kids and didn't have a problem with it. It was certainly outweighed by the benefit of being steps away from the station.
Cosy hotel whose faux Bavarian interior flirts with, but doesn't cross the line towards kitsch. It feels like it's family-run. Staff are very friendly and the breakfast is wonderful.

The entry in the hotel is from the only shady street I found in the city. Although nothing bad happened I do not feel like it is very safe on that street. We were accommodated on the 4th floor with a kid and without an elevator and that is quite demanding.
The room was cozy and had a tub which I appreciated a lot. The location was super central being close to almost everything. The people at reception were very friendly and the place was clean and comfortable.

Didn't meet any staff but that wasn't a problem. No lifts. ( usually not a problem, but we were at the top with big bags) Having said that, we did take the last available room so if we had booked earlier I am sure we could have asked for a room on a lower floor
So close to the station but on a back street so quiet. Comfy clean room wiith a coffee machine. Instructions for staying good and helpful. Very happy. Perfect for a stop over

The Wi-fi was weak No elevator, which I knew, just meant planning to go down once for the day rather than going back and forth to the room on the 4th floor. Okay for a short stay

Excellent location - 3 min walk to the main train station in Hamburg. On a quiet street.... plenty of restaurants aroudn the corner. Breakfast looked fine - we didn't have it (extra charge). Quiet, clean, great location. Would recommend.

Hmmmm - the floor was creaking a lot in the corner at the cabinet in the main room (the bedroom). But we survived ... ;o)
Especially the bed and the coffee machine were outstanding! ☺ There was a classic electric kettle (induction) for making hot water for either coffee, tea or perhaps cocoa - and further more a coffee machine using small coffee shots to make a very tasty cup of coffee (espresso, normal coffee etc.). The bed was very fine to lie in ...... etc. ☺ .... a very comfortable bed. Nice old room with an atmosphere - nice service at the recepton. ☺

I know it's common in Europe, but there is no shower curtain around the shower (but that's a small thing).
The hotel was very close to the train station, the staff were helpful, the room cozy (a trip back in time - in a good way) and clean.
