Nothing. The hotel is older and nothing fancy, but it is clean and well-situated.

Easy-to-find location, near the center of Idar with grocery and dining options nearby. Staff was pleasant and helpful at checkin. There was a secure place to leave our bicycle overnight. We were directed to call the emergency number in the morning to have someone unlock the kiosk where the bike was stored. This went about as I expected, requiring a little patience as the desk is not staffed in the morning. Kudos to the chef in the dining area who helped us when no one was answering the emergency number on the first few rings. The room was very big. It was clean and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast had all the offerings and pleasant staff.

Carpet in hallways and rooms looks and smells old, but it wasn't a big deal. Some breakfast buffet items were not refilled once empty (bacon)

This felt like a typical European hotel for the price. The building and rooms may have seen better days, but it was clean and the beds were comfortable. If you're expecting an American style hotel room and amenities, you will be disappointed. All in all, a good stay.

We were in Idar-Oberstein to visit the gem mine on a recent trip to Germany. We got into town late, slept, and checked out in the morning. We communicated through email that our arrival would be later than initially planned and the response was quick (and in English), with a phone number to call when we arrived. The gentleman that checked us in was friendly and spoke English well. When we woke in the daylight, the views from the room were amazing.

We payed for breakfast and it was announced till 10am, but at 9.30 the breakfast- room was already closed. After other guests with the same problem, made phone calls ect. we got something to eat in the end. We got told (not from the service staff but from somebody working in the same building) that that is an ongoing problem coz the hotel- owner pays the breakfast waiter only till 10am but if he would serve till this time he would need another 30- 60 min to clean up and to close the restaurant. So we would like to give a little advice to the owner: pay all your staff appropriately...

Staff are unfriendly, non-cooperative, un-professional, even they didn’t care if somebody’s asking a question or have a line for check in. Room didn’t ready even after 15 Uhr. 🕒 customer made complain even they don’t have any solution or try resolve the problem.

Frankly this is not a hotel but I felt it is kind of a rented room with no facilities., small old TV that's it ..no coffee maker or nothing. They are running Building as hotel without any hotel facilities. Parking is not free and you have to pay extra with coin system means you can not go out many times with car or else you have to ask again and again for the coins.zero security and not safe for families. Also over priced, never again

The entire hotel was shut, lights out, no employees on duty, a guest ? let us in and got us a key to a room. A huge hotel without other guests, very uncomfortable, no coffee no toiletries, just a bed.

at least a place to sleep. Staff showed up next morning and were unable to refund my next three days. creepy Steven King type hotel, huge with no people. scary, long dark hallways and so on

The whole experience is a bit morbid, the hotel itself didn't get an update since 1960, the stains on the carpet, and the dark corridors at night as if we were in a horror film. Didn't have the courage to even try the breakfast. Careful when arriving at night, there is no one at the reception and a paper with a number to call in order to get to your room.
