Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyThe buding is old and so are the windows. Noise isolation is pretty bad. There was a protest/party type of event going on at the Markplatz on Friday evening and it was quite noisy. The room was very hot (even in late Winter) and the blankets were so heavy, I just had to sleep with the windows half open and try to sleep with the noise. I asked for a softer blanket on the second day and they provided me with one. There is no air conditioning here, so be aware if you are traveling in Summer. The shower box had hairs upon my arrival and it clearly had not be cleaned well. They have a warning paper saying they do not clean the rooms every day and I wish I had known about that before the booking. They did clean my room on the second day though, so it was not a problem. There was scaffolding over the façade when I was there, but I understand this is not the hotel's fault and renovations are necessary. Overall, this is a good 3 star hotel for German standards, given the small town/old building context.
The staff is super friendly, the location is amazing, the breakfast was very good, the room is spatious. There is an elevator and a mini fridge, which is not usual for Germany. They gift you a small water bottle daily, which is nice.. There is a small market right next door. The hotel also has a restaurant.

United StatesA Family owned hotel with no lobby and the front desk is in the café which had great food and staff. Rooms were cleaned every 2 days. It met our needs, close to the Christmas Markets, shops, tram to Castle and river. Breakfast buffet was very nice.

United StatesParking is a little bit of a treck with luggage. Be sure to drop off luggage at the door before you park, if possible. Was not possible for us due to Christmas market restrictions on cars in that area at that time of day. We WERE able to when departing, however.
Location is outstanding. WiFi is reliable. Staff was so kind & great English speakers. Included perks were a sweet surprise & delight. Elevator to the upper floors.

United KingdomOur rooms were on the top floor and although we were aware that the elevator ordinarily stopped at the floor below, during our visit the elevator was not working at all. The stairs presented quite a climb!
The rooms I booked were spacious and had excellent views of both the castle and town. The buffet breakfast was first class and dinner in the restaurant was a pleasure.

United KingdomEven though our room was a good size we felt there needed to be more storage,ie drawers for clothing. There was only a double wardrobe with a shelf on top and not even a luggage rack to place case or bag. Lighting in room could have been better, quite dull and difficult to see things a times at night
Location, staff and food were excellent.Dining room combined with top notch traditional German fare with setting made for excellent dining, Ps. Breakfast food selection was varied and good quality and the bed was so comfortable and the shower was hot and powerfull

NetherlandsThe reception is at the bar in the restaurant and that felt a bit messy and unprofessional somehow. Luggage storage was at the wall in the restaurant, which also seemed a bit strange. The lady checking us in was very friendly though. Other staff so so.
The location was wonderful, in the middle of the old town. Nice breakfast. Spacious room, that felt very cosy.

United StatesThe shower was very small. The floor slanted at a weird angle. The oscillating floor fan was wobbly .
The location is great. Close to the trolley to take you to Heidelberg Castle. You can easily walk to the famous Karl Theodor Bridge, commonly known as the Old Heildelberg Bridge . The center which was right outside the door of the hotel was charming , and had a lot of choices in foods. There were nice shops to get plenty of nice souvenirs. The breakfast had plenty of options. The area that breakfast was served was decorated beautifully. It is what you think of when you think of a small German restaurant.

South AfricaOur room was acceptable, except for the fact that it was on the fourth floor and the lift only went up to the third floor. Moving in and out with our luggage was a bit of a constrain.
This place is situated in the heart of the old town with easy access to the main attractions. The breakfast was good with a reasonable variety.

United KingdomRoom would have benefitted from having a fridge, but the bar staff were happy to provide ice to chill any drinks we were taking out for the day. Bathroom small but functional - not a great deal of space. Parking near by but quite pricey although hotel provide a discount if you can find a space in their designated public carpark.
Location was perfect and the room was bright and airy as it had dual aspect and looked over the main square. Hotel had its own bar and restaurant. Breakfast very good - great selection and no need to get up at the crack of dawn. Loved the friendly and welcoming mints on the bed 😁
