Short 30 minute walk into altstadt. It appears part of Octoberfest will be located just a few blocks away. If I was in Munich for Octoberfest, I’d definitely stay here.

I had a wonderful time in Hotel Pension Schmellergarten. The location is excellent, near to city centre, in a small and quiet street. The room was large enough, and really clean. The receptionists are super friendly! Josef helped me a lot, he was really nice and has a great sense of customer care! Jana was also fantastic, she was also very kind and welcoming! It was really great that they helped me keep my luggage safe for a few days while I went up to the mountains. Thank you so much for all the good service!

Very good value: close to the U-Bahn, city center yet in a quiet street, supermarkets, park, restaurants in walking distance. Staff is nice and helpful. There is no kitchen but a dining room where you can have coffee/hot chocolate/tea from the machine free of charge. Family friendly: room has enough space to play, you can leave the prams on the ground floor.

Unfortunately the wifi was just terrible. My husband was working half-days during our stay, and he had to use phone data a lot of the time, but we got a good plan for that on purpose.

I stayed here for two weeks with my baby and husband. I expected to run into issues with the baby, but everything was great! Everyone was really nice, and the room was better sound-proofed than our place back home. The place obviously wasn’t set up for babies, but we had a fantastic time. Jane was wonderful and took great care of us. The whole place was so clean and lovely, and everything just worked so smoothly. The location was stellar. Baby and I took lots of walks around the neighbourhood, ate pretzels non-stop, joined a local playgroup, and saw a non-stop parade of beauty and history.

Everything to like which started with a friendly greeting from Joseph. My room was ready early. Large clean room. A coffee machine in the dinning area. A short walk to the Central Railway Station. A great place to stay and excellent value for money.

Well, the whole set up of having to parade by strangers when you need to shower is not for everyone and the walls are thin. But the facilities are very clean and you kind of know what you sign up for when you book.

The staff is doing their absolute best with what they can. This is a cheap hotel with a great location, but very clean, and in general a lot of things are there that you wouldn't expect to be there (i.e. a microwave, a fridge, a working light over the sink, a reading light, etc)

Myself and 4 friends were saying here for Oktoberfest, location was perfect being only 10 minutes walk away, right near the underground and had everything we needed.

The location is great if you're there specifically for Oktoberfest but it is a little out of the way for the rest of the city. The staff were very helpful and friendly.

I had low expectations but the property was better then the pictures. Was staying for oktoberfest so really only slept and showered onsite but it felt private, clean and met our needs. Also conveniently located to train lines and the oktoberfest grounds (10min walk).

It can be noisy, if there's a soccer game in the evening, but that probably would be applicable to any hotel close to the city center :D

Perfect location for a weekend visit to Munich if you don't have high expectations on the look. The rooms were nice and clean. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The place is not far away from the city center. You can find some shops and small cafes near by.

No breakfast but shops nearby & microwave in the room. Did I mention the free coffee? No lift. Big room is on the 4th floor. But we can all do with a bit of the exercise!!

Quiet location 20 minutes walk from Old Town. 2 minutes from Pocci metro lines 3 & 6. There are shops/supermarkets round the corner on Lindwurmstr. including a late night store. Basic amenities (it is a 'Pension' after all) but all very clean & tidy. Delicious, free coffee on tap. Microwave and fridge in the room. Fantastic value and much better than a hostel if you are on a budget. There's a nice quiet bar across the street. They cooked us some scrumptious Greek food, even though it was at 10 pm when we asked. Eur16 each with drinks. Loved it! There's also a posher cafe restaurant further up the street but they would not do food after 9pm Reception guy was a super cool dude. Even though our UK plug adapter blew up the fuses, he was just chilled about it. He was so thoughtful. Knowing it was going to be one of hottest weekends of the year (34 degrees!) he had put an AC unit in the big room we had booked for 4 people. That was so welcome. He also said we could leave our bags at reception, as we had to go to to a smart function in the morning and we weren't leaving until later on. What a star!
