For reasons that I imagine only the tourist industry fully understand, my favourite hotel in Nuremberg is either way too expensive to even think about staying in, or one of the cheapest options in the city centre, breakfast included. Just around the corner from the Weiße Turm U-Bahn (a relatively simple change at Hauptbahnhof if you're coming from the airport), this place, when the price is right, is absolutely marvellous. I've stayed here numerous times before, and it's always been a pleasure, despite the confusing layout of the place and the fact that some of the bathrooms aren't much bigger than a telephone box. Both the choice and quality of the food on offer at the breakfast buffet are also exceptionally good.

The location is great and the Christmas markets (main purpose of my visit) are very close. The main Christmas market are at a walkable distance. The room does the job.

The first room was dated, dark, and not well-maintained. Not all the fixtures were operational. Some of the desk staff were not very helpful, or lacked a customer-friendly demeanor. Part of the lobby was under some kind of construction, it didn't really look very cozy. Despite leaving tips for the room staff, they still didn't get everything tidy or swept. The pillows are very thin, you may need more than two.

The breakfast was nice. I didn't really find anything special, it seemed to be a standard German buffet if a bit scant, but the staff were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant was very cozy and there were excellent meal and wine choices. The restaurant had a very classic feel. The manager made us feel very welcome and solved our issues quickly and satisfactorily.

It was great! It was a couple blocks from the main Christmas Market but walking home I went a different way once and realized there was another Christmas market literally around the corner.

Great breakfast included and I had to leave for the airport too early for breakfast on the second day and the woman offered to make me a "lunch bucket!"
