Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

DenmarkThe windows had no noise insulation, so it was difficult sleeping with all the noise from the street. Also, the mirror above the bed was a bit weird (we didn't notice it in the photos until after booking), and the lights were flickering sporadically.
Nice location and friendly staff. Decent bathroom.

United Kingdom1) Very small hostel type room despite paying >110 euro/night 2) Drainage was blocked on the very first day at shower area but despite repeated complaints - it was not fixed for 5 days I stayed - very poor service. 3) When I called the person at desk about drainage - he came up and just removed the water by using the same towel which they are providing for shower and face cleans - terrible experience 4) Despite saying that I need to leave for conference and have to take shower - that owner did not help at all and mentioned sorry I do not have any solution or other shower room and zero help or alternative provided but just left - pathetic
Location was good - near transport links including buses and train station.

IrelandI stayed in a single room, the toilet and shower was shared. The shower was extremely small, it didn't even want to touch the shower curtain as even the colour of it wasn't white! The location was good in terms of transportation however I couldn't sleep because of the noise that comes from the street - such an unsafe area- The staff was nice, they let me drop my bag off before the check-in. So overall It's too much money even for just a day trip.

FranceEven though the hotel is just behind the main station, I wouldn't say it's a very safe area at night. Besides, this hotel clearly has a problem with doors: - first the door knob to my room door was broken: it stayed in my hand when I pulled the door to close it. So I could get stuck from the inside...I mentioned the problem right away to two members of the staff who did what they could to fix the door but never did... They called someone who was supposed to fix the door but the guy never showed... I stayed there for 3 days and on the last day, the door knob once again stayed in my hand so I had to get ready (meaning putting my clothes on) with the door open - and by that I mean literally ajar - so i wouldn't get stuck inside my room (see photo). Staff never offered to change rooms. - another door problem : the shared shower (which is just a shower room - not a full bathroom) also had a door that couldn't get closed at all because the wood had swollen. So you just had to pray that nobody showed up and opened the door while you were in there.... I'm used to traveling in various conditions and this didn't ruin my stay, but I still expected my hotel room and shower to have functioning doors... and I would maybe advise people to avoid room 33 and any other room with the shared shower (as there is only one for the whole hotel).
It was very clean and just 2 minutes away from the main train station. Staff was nice and always available, even if they eventually never resolved my problems...

United StatesMy room was on the top floor with a small terrace which was overlooking the main street which was great but there was no elevator. Had to carry my bags up six flights of stairs. Bathroom was clean but in need of an update.
Very close to the main train station and lots of restaurants, and shops. Walk to all the local tourist sites.

SloveniaHowever the area is very poor, full of immigrants and dodgy people. Every day there was a guy in front of the hotel door doing drugs. My room was ok, eas not cleaned properly in three days I was there. There are no heavy curtains which makes it hard to sleep.
The location is very good, just a minute from the main station. The hotel was comfortable and fairly clean.

China- Horrible neighbourhood with drug addicts and bums roaming the street. - Street noise from screaming people - Walls so thin you can hear neighbours blowing their nose - No bathroom, only a toilet in the corner of the room covered by a transparent glass door?? -No darkening curtains so room too light for decent sleep.
The interior is unique and charming. Nice bed.

GermanyWe overlooked and didn’t checked upon booking if they have an elevator. Our room was at the 4th floor, no elevator/lift. It was very difficult since we had big luggage bags.
The Hotel’s location is very accessible, practical if you want to travel within the city center (Hamburg). The wifi was good as well.

SwedenThe neighborhood is very dangerouse. There are lots of junkies outside just besides the entrance. They tried to approach us but we were lucky that could run away. This place can be hardly named as a "hotel". Apparently, it used to be a brothel (prostitute house) and then they converted it to a hotel. But definitely it is far behind a 3-star hotel. Even still there are lots of elements in the hotel that are kept without any changes (erotic photos in the breakfast room). They definitely need to define this hotel for adults-only. It is not suitable for families. The photos uploaded on booking are far different from the reality. They have to be updated immediately, because presently, they are misleading. The windows are not soundproof. So the whole night ee could not rest well due to consistant noise from the busy street outside (lots of 24 hours kiosks in front of the hotel) The carpets are extremely dirty and it seems that they have not being washed for a long time. There is a bad smell all the time in the room. Even openning the window for long time didn't help to eliminate the bad smell. The interior design is old-fashioned and outdated and inherited lots of stuff from their initial usage (brothel). The room door is too old and not suitable for a hotel room. The door is not lockable from inside without the key. The key is old-fashioned heavy. They don't have a lobby as a normal hotel. Our bus departure was 18 and we asked if we could do checkout later. The unfriendly guy at the reception argued that it is not possible because they are sold out. But we were the only guest in the breakfast. Also I checked on booking and they still had available room there. If they had a lobby that we could stay we would not need to extend our check out. The breakfast was one of the worst breakfast I ever had in my life. They are not generous at all.
