I own a hotel so I know how things should be done. We really enjoyed our stay at Velero. Staff work very hard, service is on point, lots of smiles. There is a lot of cleaning and maintenance going on, you see a lot of staff working hard and everything was in very good shape. The location is perfect. The food has improved considerably since the last time I was there a few years ago, I like that breakfast is cooked to order and served fresh, we also ate dinner in the restaurant which was both delicious and very good value. All in all nothing at all to complain about here, and I would recommend.

The bed and couch killed our backs............ i mean killed. We are both super flexible but by day 3 our backs were shot from the couch and bed. We binge-watched some Netflix so maybe the couch (super uncomfortable after an hour) may have been the culprit. Bed Pillows like rocks. Restaurant - the servers really don't seem to understand English (or my rudimentary spanish)..... not the sharpest tacks. Food OK. Coffee marginal and cold at times. Can't really complain.

So - the room was very nice, plenty of size, clean. Grounds nice, pool nice, lounges nice and restaurant ok. No beach. Big plus - very very hot shower plenty of water. Has a sign saying "water filtered 99.9%" safe to drink ..... i admit, however, i got a touch of diarrhea last day - could have been previous place that we stayed......... (Eco Lodge).

The quality of the breakfast for being free was really nice. The location was spectacular. Nothing like hanging out at the pool with the ocean crashing 10 feet away. The ability to just walk for hours on the beach without having to travel anywhere was beautiful.

The beach is not really spectacular for snorkeling.

Breakfast is good. The staff is attentive and friendly. The pool is wonderful with a pretty view of the ocean. the water is clean and warm enough. We really enjoyed using it.

Sometimes the waits were long - or we had to go elsewhere (especially for dinner if no reservation was made first). The service was frequently slow, but the view (next to the ocean) made the longer waits more enjoyable. We noticed the service was slow at many restaurants we visited though. When on the beach area - be ready for the vendors to come to you... constantly. For the most part they are good when you say "no, gracias" but sometimes they try to push their wares. Bring cash for the beach things (like chairs/umbrellas/drinks/vendors), credit card security isn't very reliable with the street vendors (restaurants are fine for credit cards).

The food was all very tasty. The pool was lovely and the resort was right on the water. It was a short walk (5 minutes) to the "beach" area where you could rent beach chairs and umbrellas (and order food/drinks delivered to you), OR you could put down a beach towel and enjoy the views. The local beach was very clean and safe and the water was lovely (waves weren't very big).

No immediate access to beach, as the property sits right on the point where there is no contiguous beach, it’s very rocky. Actual beach access is short walk away

you can’t really swim right in front of the hotel but the beach is a short walk from the hotel so not a big deal AND there is no coffee option in the room so I wish there was some coffee option earlier than 8am when breakfast starts

We loved how quiet it was, it is a fairly small place so we loved not having crowds, very relaxing, super clean, the staff is really great and the location is unbeatable! Restaurant great too

I mean, maybe the stair to the 3rd floor, just to say something, but everything was great, really.

The staff were exceptional, the room and bathroom were extra large, a/c worked great, had an ocean view, and breakfast by the ocean was a dream.

Restaurant food wasn’t that great. That said, many other options in walking distance so not a huge issue. I wish rooms on higher levels had courtyard access. Was a lot of back and forth around the building as we were on second floor and with small kids that is tough. Next time would request first floor as those walked out to courtyard.

Breakfast was filling and food was made to order. Staff very friendly. Loved the Infinity pool overlooking ocean. Great for kids. Beach was just down steps from the pool. Small area semi wind protected that allowed kids to play. Also could walk a short rocky stretch to a larger beach with bars and restaurants. Also convenient was an atm and large grocery store within 3 min walking from Hotel.

Lovely hotel located on the beach with a lovely pool. 5 min walk into the local town. Restaurant overlooked the pool and was reasonably priced.

Electrical outlets in the room were insufficient. We had to sleep with our heads at the foot of the bed so my sister in law c-pap machine power cord could reach an outlet. There was something wrong with the tv, which the staff notice when we were shown our room. Nothing came about to replace or fix the tv.

The restaurant was amazing. We did not plan to eat there all the time but the flavour, portion size and presentation of the meals was spectacular and the convenience of the restaurant right there was the selling point. The beach walk was beautiful to enjoy a daily walk. Watching all the kite suffers was so entertaining and amazing.
