It is only peaceful if no one else is staying there. The property itself, like many in Ecuador (I live here so I have an idea), is not insulated, therefore you can hear noises very easily from just outside the hotel, as well as inside. Every time someone goes in or out of their rooms, we heard it. That itself wasn’t enough to wake us up, but the people below us sure did. Our third night, the people staying below us had their TV on full volume until 11pm (til 10, we tolerated it but after 10 there should be a noise curfew). I messaged the hotel on WhatsApp. By the time they got the message and checked, the TV was off but they put the TV on again a few hours later. The next night they must have come back after a night of drinking because they continued their partying at 2am in their room and on the balcony between 2 and 4am. I could not sleep and they were very loud. I messaged the hotel (there is no one at the desk over night and they take away the bell from the desk at night) and they didn’t get the message til 430am. We decided to leave a day early and come back to Quito because we were exhausted and it wasn’t worth the anxiety of not knowing if we will be kept up another night. I do not blame the hotel, it was the guests that were loud, but at a hotel like this you look for peace and quiet and there should be rules of some kind or something to keep this from happening. I hate that it ruined our experience there.

I loved the location. Being close enough to the centre of Baños, but far enough away that it was mostly peaceful. The first couple nights we were the only people staying at the hotel and we fell asleep to the sound of the River. The breakfast was plentiful for most people, we are vegan so we just had the fruit and coffee, but the girl in the morning did make me a salad with fresh veggies one morning. If you aren’t vegan, lots of options. The fresh juice was incredible every morning.

• The whole room smelled like axe body spray upon entering; we ended up keeping the doors open for the whole day in order to help ventilate the air as the smell was too strong • Upon inspection of the jacuzzi, it appeared sparkling clean, but once turned on, a ton of short black hair appeared in the water; the previous customer must have shaved or trimmed their hair in the jacuzzi for the amount of hair we had to drain; we ended up filling and draining the jacuzzi 3 times in order to get rid of the hair coming out of the water jets; I regret not taking photos and videos of the hair and filing a complaint with management on the first day • There was a moldy smell coming from all sides of the jacuzzi; the staff had placed towels on the floor beside the jacuzzi, but had not properly cleaned it • During check-in, there was no one in the front desk and the gardener/maintenance worker checked us in instead and walked inside our room with his dirty, muddy boots to show us how to turn on the jacuzzi • During check-out, there was no one in the front desk again, and the lady who served us breakfast ended up calling a taxi for us instead • Please hire more staff to help run the hotel smoothly and efficiently, and not to mention improve the cleanliness

The first room we were assigned to did not have a working drain in the shower. We checked in late at night so we let the staff know the next morning. It was difficult to find the person working in reception to ask questions during our two night stay. One night when we came back, the gate was closed. No one answered the buzzer at the gate. We eventually got into the property after another guest helped us.

It is nice to hear the sound of the river from the property. The rooms are clean.

The things I would definitely improve are 1) toiletries, for $60 per night, i would expect at least a conditioner to be provided (there was only a couple of small soap bars and shampoo from the pump); 2) drainage in the bathroom should be fixed, it’s simply not hygienic to take a shower in standing water; 3) our breakfast was average, fruits were tasty, however, plantains patties were cold, again for $60 i would expect a bit more variety and a bit more attention to the quality of food.

The actual room is like on photos with one exception. The view is not as great as expected (there was a trash right under our window which was not covered on photos). Nice staff, clean room, wonderful garden view from restaurant. The location is great, 7 minutes from the city center by car.

The “mountain view” room is very misleading. I’m surprised nobody mentioned about this. I attached 2 photos of the view from the “Mountain View” room balcony view.

I wanted the room and the balcony I did get that I was very disappointed.

It is a bit further from the town than expected (not within walking distance). However it is a quick and cheap taxi ride ($1.50).

The employees went above and beyond when our travel plans were changed and we arrived past midnight. They pleasantly waited for us and maintained good communication. We also appreciated having drinkable water available in our room and extra water available on each floor.

The views are amazing, well worth staying a little out of the centre for. Only a $1.50 taxi to get into the centre anyway! We loved the breakfast and the staff were very helpful and nice. The shower had great pressure and was very warm. We loved it here.
