Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaThe bed in my first room was hard as a rock. The bathroom showers were tiny and didn't drain well. The air conditioner leaked like mad and I had to use my towels on the floor to try to make sure the puddle didn't get too big. The room also was just on the borderline of clean enough/ a little grimy. When I switched rooms (not my decision, the hotel moved me as I was joining a tour group) I left a cloth laundry bag with dirty laundry including some expensive items in my first room and it disappeared. I understand I shouldn't have forgotten anything in room and ultimately the fault lay with me, but it was handled very poorly. The front desk staff kept telling me they had to talk to maid service but despite me asking multiple times over 2 days, they never followed up or were able to return my bag before I had to leave. I just felt like they were avoiding answering me and waiting for me to leave. If they had just told me that my bag was gone and apologized, this review would be probably a 7.
The hotel restaurant view, breakfast buffet and restaurant staff were great. The bellboys were good. The bed in my 2nd room was comfortable.

GermanyMy expectations were rather low after all the bad reviews, but I found the hotel really ok. Nothing fancy, but everything ok and location is good. A bit noisy due to the traffic, but that's just Egypt. Arranged an aiport pickup through the hotel which worked out well.

United KingdomStill can’t get things right 💯. The shower fills up FAST as the drainage sucks. The room still felt cool despite the heating staying on all day. The hotel, like everywhere it seems in Egypt, doesn’t carry smaller bills. The on-site restaurant has disaster service: I really think they have NO idea on how to serve customers. You are ignored forever and have to flag down a waiter/ the food takes FOREVER to arrive (even a bowl of soup) and then proper utensils aren’t given (like a spoon!) The servers practically know no English so it can be very difficult to order.
Begrudgingly stayed here another night rather than move to a different hotel for my last night in Cairo. Compared to my earlier stay, I have to admit this was better. The Wifi was better (not amazing, like nowhere in Cairo) but decent enough, there was consistent hot water this time in the shower, and there was heating in the room. My room this time was also MUCH quieter at 306, facing the street, versus on the 8th floor facing the Nile. No bloody dawn muezzin prayer call! Proper curtains to shut out the light unlike on the upper floor.

United KingdomOh gosh. So much unfortunately. I think the staff tries but they miss the mark. An English language barrier is still really apparent, which means my leftovers I left at the front desk the previous night got thrown away. At initial room check-in, there isn’t even a full toilet roll given. I mean, really?! The towels are the WORST I’ve ever had in a budget hotel. Thin and stringy and barely cover oneself (and I’m slender!). I ran out of toilet roll and told the front desk in the AM… still nothing there I got back to the room in the evening. And had to call the front desk TWICE to finally get it 👎There should be more opaque curtains for the windows as light comes streaming in early. There is no window double-glazing so the dulled roar of traffic is clearly heard outside (I was in room 808). The bed is pretty hard, as are the pillows. thin top coverlet (but duvets in the closet). Finally, Wifi was pretty slow and upload speed awful- and I had the best wifi it seems compared to others who had none or abysmal. No hot shower water later in the AM and only a bit warmer in the PM. The included breakfast is ok: an omelette option and some cakey bread; coffee; tea; OJ. The accompanying restaurant has some hit or miss food: I loved the eskander beans as it was a stew; the dolma was pretty bland. One of my fellow group members said her green soup was terrible. Service was very slow and food took ages to arrive. The location is far from Coptic or Islamic Cairo sites.
Concierge 💁♀️ is really pleasant and cordial. Same with adjacent restaurant staff. Clean bathroom and room. I was concerned checking in here on how clean the room would be based on past reviews but was pleasantly surprised. The view from my room was of the Nile which was really cool! Outlets near the bed (win!) to charge phones. Quiet hotel overall in terms of other guests.

AustraliaReception management. Upon arrival They asked me to pay in Egyptian pounds and applied to themselfs a very favourable conversion rate (which I didn’t realise at the time, too naieve) Shower had warm - hot - scalding but no cold. Aircon did it best but was old and ineffective ( the quality you’d expect at a much cheaper hotel.) On the day I was due to fly out my flight was delayed and a friend I had met allowed me to leave my bags in his room and have a shower. Reception wasn’t happy🤷♂️ I explained that the price my new friend paid for his room a three bed “single” was actually substantially more than the (live) booking.com price for two people but he wouldn’t hear about it. My new friend then asked for a refund and said he would just rebook the room for two. (Impossible said the manager) fine I will pay an extra person excess, he insisted I pay cash and double the (live price) just for an extra person in the room not even an extra room? Crazy? I was on the booking.com app trying to just book the room and he kept trying to touch my phone (not sure why maybe to stop me booking and rob him of his ability of a quick cash bonus. Upset that I dare get a good price went to the hotel police (located at every western hotel to stop Egyptian and non Egyptian mixed unmarried couples sharing a room) but thankfully the policeman just shook his head (realising that the manager was on a power trip) I decided it was best to just go to the airport a few hrs early. I was escorted to the room and quickly made to pack. I ended up leaving things behind. The owner of the hotel seemed nice so I am assuming this was a rogue manager but your hotel is only as good as your staff. I can’t recommend. Check out my other reviews I like to think that I have always proven to be fair in the past.
The restaurant is world class (okay maybe not but really good for Cairo) I took some gastro risks with the menu over multiple days and always felt fine afterwards. Tell them Tom sent you when you ask for the Lemon Mint with Ice if you are brave.
