Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesWe could find nothing to not like.
The reception by the host was excellent. The whole property, in its grandness, was cozy and inviting. The room was spacious and amply apportioned. The amenities were exceptional. Staff were very flexible with guest schedules. We loved the solitude of the pool area plus access to self-service coffee beverages. The multiple unique spaces allocated for guests to relax provided a welcome place to reflect on the day’s adventures as well as plan tomorrow’s next ones. As guests, we felt comfortable and luxuriated upon from the Moroccan inspired fabulous bathrooms to the “nothing left to be desired” inclusive breakfast. The host was informative of the unique features of the property as well as the heritage loadstone of this property to the cultural tourism of La Orotava and Tenerife.

United KingdomNothing!
Stunning building, with its beautiful lounges and art works. Very peaceful and relaxing. Room (Lanzarote) a decent size, with large, Moorish, bathroom (shower only) and beautiful views of Mount Tiede, churches and the coast - including sunsets over the sea. Perfect for exploring La Orotava and catching the bus into Puerto de la Cruz. We had no problem parking in the street outside. For views, the room La Palma might even cap our room, Lanzarote. (And the basics: firm, with soft top, bed; good lighting; everything worked; spotlessly clean, lots of clothes storage/hanging space; powerful shower.....)

United KingdomIt would have been nice to have more choices for breakfast but the continental offerings were generous.
We loved this hotel; it is spacious and beautiful in architecture and decoration. It is located in a quiet neighbourhood area, but still close to the sites, restaurants and bus station. It is perfectly located between Mount Teide and the black sand beaches of the north coast.

United KingdomIt would have been nice to have a kettle and mugs in the room to avoid having to go downstairs to make a drink.
The building is beautiful with lots of interesting artefacts on display. Our room had a lovely view of Mount Teide and the bathroom is absolutely stunning! Breakfast was fantastic. The host is very friendly and gave us a brief history of the building. The hotel is in a good central location. The pool looked nice although we didn't have time to use it, and parking is available right outside the hotel. We really enjoyed our stay here and the hotel felt very homely.

United KingdomOne small thing I would have liked, is a kettle in our room but you could make yourself tea/coffee at any time by going down to the kitchen area.
The bedroom and bathroom were spacious, comfortable and super clean. The view from the window was spectacular. The decor of the hotel was arty, quirky and interesting. The bed was really comfortable. The inclusive breakfast was delicious and abundant. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The free parking space directly outside the hotel was a huge advantage.

United KingdomThe fact that we had to leave this hotel at the end of the holiday
The Alhambra is a lovely and unique small hotel for couples who are looking for culture, heritage and comfort. The property itself is a listed heritage building within the heritage Old City area of La Orotava. Inside it is beautifully designed and laid out with a unique combination of artwork and sculptures. Gorges, the hotel director, will gladly give you a guided tour of the property and was of great value regarding information and help throughout our trip. He takes special care of all his guests, staying up late for us as our flight was delayed and coming out into the street to help us bring in our luggage. This really is a special hotel, well run and managed, and one in which even as a guest you are placed in a beautiful and unique ambiance. Highly recommended for its quietness, access to good restaurants and traditional Canarias culture.

NetherlandsDisadvantage of a large room is that the TV is far away and screen is rather small. Wifi is present but not at the same strength everywhere. The pool is nice but rather small if you want to swim decent laps.
The Alhambra has the allure of luxury hotel but also the feeling of a bed&breakfast due to the homely atmosphere and the friendly host. Our room was quiet and large and the bathroom also large and comfortable. Parking the car in the street in front succeeded most of the times. Breakfast is good and is available at the desired time. La Orotava is a small town but there is a range of restaurants, and some typical buildings. It is also a good starting point for excursions.
