How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.

Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

It’s a very small thing, but it was difficult to wash up the dishes, if you just have a few, and don’t want to use the dishwasher.
The location was great - close to the old town, and also to the small Plaza de España. The apartment was very comfortable, with a good bed and nice bathroom. The owner was very pleasant and helpful. We would be happy to stay there again.

Everything was fine...extremely clean and well appointed (though we did have fun deciding on the many choices of light switches!!
Breakfast was not included but Esther and Javier had left much wrapped food and snacks, fruit, water and full cupboards that we did not need to buy anything...however, we always intended to "eat out". There is an excellent brunch cafe (the Flamingo" nearby where we had late breakfast every day for very reasonable price.

There was nothing negative at all about the apartment
The location of this apartment is excellent. Lots of facilities around the apartment and only a few minutes walk from the tourist attractions. We can honestly say it is one of the loveliest holiday apartments we have stayed in. There were lots of extra little touches that made our stay so comfortable and enjoyable. The hosts and staff are easy to contact and nothing is too much trouble. They just want you to enjoy your stay.

Owner very helpful. The apartment contains everything you need for a week in Elche, Spain. Supermarkets around the corner and also other services available on short distance. The city is calm and a little sleepy. If you look for a relaxing place with fantastic food and fruits, you can hang around to stress down. Perfect apartment for a conference week, tourist or business visit.

The apartments is fantastic! The balcony is big and nice view. Very close to the city center. The apartments is very good equipped with everything what you need. Javier, owner of apartments, met us and explained everything about apartments and location. I can tell only thanks to Javier!

I enjoyed staying here for few days, the property has all required supplies for feeling comfortable during summer heat in Elche and also host provided high qualified service for feeling here like at home (including food for breakfast and hygiene supplies).

My stay in the apartment of Esther y Javi was very pleasant. Coffee, tea, fruits as well as water were already available. The kitchen is fully equipped. Javi was always available and gave me sightseeing recommendations. The apartment is centrally located and quiet. I would book it again anytime.

This apartment is superb - stylish, large, nicely furnished and equipped. In the fridge was ham cheese, butter a selection of jams etc and a basket of pastries plus a loaf of bread. Coffee and tea was supplied. Our house Javi could not have been more or accommodating or helpful. The flight was late so it was after 11pm when we arrived but he was in the street waiting for us. Such a lovely man and a perfect host. The apartment is a reasonably short walk in to the centre of the old town with a big supermarket visible from the apartment.

I liked everything!
The apartment was lovely! It is well cared for, well situated and had everything we could ask for. The owners were kind, responsive and made sure to answer any questions that we had. I would highly recommend el apartamento de Esther y Javi to friends & family!

Just a perfect place to land in Elche. LOVELY hosts, clean and modern apartment with all the comforts. Wanted to stay longer! Very close to grocery stores, and all you would need, walking distance. Highly recommend!
