Staff were excellent and went out of their way to take care of us, especially great as we arrived tired on foot from walking on the Camino del Norte. Private use of the sauna and pool was a real highlight. The hotel was small and felt like a little sanctuary. Restaurant was delicious for both dinner and breakfast.

Everything was just perfect. Couldn't fault anything. Fernando and his family/team were amazing. Friendly reception, even though he was in the middle filming for a tv show in the restaurant. Had the most amazing steak dinner. They really went out of their way to make you feel welcome and at home.

We had a wonderful stay at this small hotel. The breakfasts were excellent, varied, and everything was fresh. The pool was a nice bonus. The hotel was very clean, and we loved the design. The owner even prepared a delicious dinner for us with fresh products from the local market. The surroundings were peaceful, with silence and a forest. We definitely want to come back.

Although a bit away from the Camino track it can easily be reached with just a minor detour. We were welcomed by Fernando in a most generous way. The hotel and its facilities (rooms, sauna, restaurant) is designed in a smart and minimalistic style and very well kept. Lunch (we took the tasting menue) and dinner ('fish of the day' ) were excellent prepared by Fernando and his team. I strongly recommend a stay here.

Super stay in our Camino way. They pick us up on a nearby village, so even do is not in the camino you will not need to walk extra to get. They picked us up on the middle of a storm and after a rainny day, so they deffenitly saved the day. After a few ways walking this is the relax you deserve, great room and super comfy bed. Also, nice "spa" area, with an indoor swimming pool, sauna and relaxing chairs. Also, the restaurant is a super high class, sligthly off budget, but the food is great and very well worthy.

Beautiful surroundings with private use of swimming pool and sauna. Room was so comfortable and beautifully furnished. Ferdinand, the owner, is an excellent chef who prepared us an exquisitely delicious meal. A memorable stay…one of our favorites!

It is just fantastic. The meal at the restaurant was superb. The owners and restaurant staff are lovely. While the hotel is a wee bit off the Camino it was no problem for them to come and pick us up and then drop us off again in the morning. This has definitely been a highlight of our trip so far.

We loved everything about it.

The hotel is small, beautifully designed and located in a wonderfully quiet rural setting, just half an hour from Bilbao and also a beautiful beach. The small pool and sauna are wonderful luxuries to arrive to and the hosts are extremely kind and nothing is too much trouble. We had personal service from Fernando who is a chef and prepared us a delicious breakfast and evening meal on both days that we stayed. We felt privileged to stay in such a beautiful and cared for place.

I hated myself for booking just one night...

I could not get enough of this place! Senor Fernando and his wife were just amazingly kind. Their artistic sense and attention to detail was seen throughout the building. We had a dinner prepared by Senor Fernando and all of the dishes was so delicious. He used many ingredients that were grown locally. Remotely located yet convenient (20 mins to Bilbao). Quiet and perfect for relaxing and detoxing!

Hotel rural Azkarraga is an oasis of quiet and peace. It's surrounded by forest and only 30 min drive from Bilbao and the ocean. The hospitality of the owners was exceptional. The food in the restaurant was great. The possibility to use the sauna and the swimming pool on a rainy afternoon was priceless.

Location is magnificent. Restaurant is very gastronomic, fine dining, good Wines. We've had the room with the big balcony which was very calming. We liked the personal touch of the owners. Very personal approach. Breakfast was fine, fresh, and very well presented.

Everything was perfect

Cannot recommend this place enough. We were walking the Camino to Bilbao and took a small diversion off our path. Fernando and his family took the best care of us, and ensured we had a luxury stay at their beautiful peaceful hotel. We opted for the tasting menu at La Revelia, and Fernando and his team were incredibly generous and kind explaining everything to us. We also opted for the breakfast, which was delicious. The pool and sauna were much needed after our long walks! We treated ourselves to the deluxe suite and it was incredible with a semi-private part of the roof terrace to enjoy for the long evening. When we departed my partner told Fernando it the best stay we have had anywhere, and we mean it sincerely.
