Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesOne of the blinds in our room (the one covering the largest window) was broken when we arrived, and it was not possible to see out of the window. The room was therefore a little dark. We did ask a staff member to look at the blind, but unfortunately he was unable to fix the blind or to offer us an alternative room as the hotel was full on that evening. He was also not able to offer us any discount on the room with the broken blind. We were a little surprised that this hotel rented out a room with a broken blind instead of fixing it first. We were glad that this was just an overnight stop - and it was a shame that our stay was clouded somewhat by the blind issue, as there were other good things about this hotel. It would have also been nice / convenient to have a small fridge in the room.
Good location in the centre of Medina del Campo. Easy walk to the castle, restaurants, shops etc. Free and convenient parking outside the hotel. Spacious room with comfortable beds. It was nice and quiet at night - we got a very good night's sleep here. Breakfast was included in the price. Good wifi connection.

PeruStaff could be a bit more helpful with guidance on what to do around town.
They provide a good buffet breakfast, with lots of choice. The room had plenty of comfortable beds, as well as air conditioning which was very convenient, since it was very hot when we visited. Medina is a lovely little town.

SpainThe bed was very hard and rigid. It could have been improved with a mattress topper. The room was too hot (it was a warm night). Breakfast was plentiful but there was no hot cooked breakfast like eggs available. The coffee tasted as though it was instant although it came from a machine (Nescafé).
Friendly, helpful staff. Excellent location. The room was a good size as was the bathroom. Everything was clean. The shower had a good water flow.

United KingdomThe hotel is easy to find and in a great location for the town centre. There is a self check-in facility which would be useful if there is no one at Reception. The decor is quite minimal and the rooms are spacious and spotlessly clean. The breakfast was continental in style, self service and was very good. We travelled on a motorcycle and although the free parking was open air, there is shelter against the weather/sun.

PortugalI stayed at Hotel La Mota for a night, really enjoyed its location in the city centre where everything is within walking distance. The staff was very helpful, not just on checkin and checkout, but also in giving directions to spots. Excellent hotel. Great service! The room was very spacious, clean, and had the amenities we needed. Breakfast was delicious and with many choices; it was a very wide buffet spread. The location is great - 2 minutes walk to Plaza Mayor. I would recommend to friends, and will definitely stay again if Im back in Medina del Campo.

SpainThis was a disgusting experience. The price for the room is expensive for the null services provided, mostly as this is by far not a cheap hotel. Rooms were extremely basic, lacking any warmth and comfort, they were not very clean -e.g. bathroom- and clearly without a minimum level of care to make the stay pleasant for the visitor. Cupboards lacked drawers, so there was no place to put clothes and your personnel items, so everything had to be spread out. It was like staying in a youth hostel or a summer camp house but for a very expensive price. I would never recommend this place to anybody and will not return.
There is nothing I can say in favor of this hotel. The only good thing is the location, quite close to the Plaza Mayor and the parking lot, free for customers. The rest was horrible.

IrelandThere wasn’t a single service in the hotel when I arrived, could not get water, coffee or anything else. The hotel offered to refund me if I chose not to stay, which they did at the time, but they subsequently charged me the full overnight stay. I paid for two hotels that night through Bookings.com

SpainWe arrived on Tuesday afternoon. Could not get the machine to work, that was supposed to give us a card to get in the property. Waited in the cold for 15 - 20 mins before a man arrived and let us in. The heating went off that evening and did not come back on, until the evening of the next day. No facilities to get a hot drink or snacks. Breakfast was very basic. No staff seen , apart from the one who came to let us in the hotel and take our payment.
Location for walk to the castle.

BelgiumCheck-in was a disaster. It was not clear anywhere that check-in was by machine and not at reception. The receptionist was somewhere else and didn't appear for some time. Regardless of how they booked, nobody had the right reservation number and the receptionist had to look these up in her computer and write them on a piece of paper for each guest. The machine charged some people who had paid in full an extra 10 Euro which the receptionist had to refund. It took over 30 minutes between arriving at the hotel and getting in my room after midnight.
The room was a good size and clean. Breakfast was advertised as from 0815 on a Saturday but coffee and croissants were available from 0750 which was good as I had to leave at 0815.
