How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Not enough toiletries for our stay. But 1st time in an apartment so not sure if that is the norm.

There is no physical host. The apartment can only be accessed with a mobile app (which works very well), so you have to make sure that your mobile phone has always power. We could not figure out how the aircon works, especially for the bathrooms. Noise from the street can be heard easily even if the windows are closed.
The apartment was located very central. All main attractions / locations were all within 2 km walking distance. The apartment was very clean and welcoming.

You need to do the dish washing or you´ll be fined!
No restaurant services. No staff on site. Excellent location; everything you need within walking distance. All our messages and inquiries were replied promptly. We liked the pssibility to use luggage storage after check out.

We did not use the sofa bed but if we would have, the street noise was quite noticible. We were staying for 10 nights so we bought soap and rubbish bags ourselves (1 rubbish bag which was provided was not enough for us because we had quite some diapers). The building door did not open with the app but the code provided worked so no problem with that.
Everything! This was the best property we ever stayed in considering price and quality. Location perfect for going to the beach but also close to main visiting spots, shops and restaurants; very clean; the kitchen had everything; two bathrooms was nice addition; very quick communication and helpful staff. All what was necesary for our almost 1 year old was also provided. Very nice to use the app instead of keys, no worrying of losing.

Everything was perfect! The apartment is well maintained, we had everything we need and our stay was spectacular! Strong A/C, plenty of amenities and fast response time from the staff.

Would have liked hand soap to be provided.
I loved the quiet location although central to all shops and restaurants. I arrived before check in time and was able to store my suitcase in a locker provided (bring a 1€ coin to operate) and again when I was departing. Everything worked and the shower was great and a very comfortable bed.

The apartment was very clean and bed very comfortable. I loved that there were 2 bathrooms in a one bedroom apartment. I had no issues using the app to unlock doors, I find it very convenient. There are lockers where you can leave bags before check in and after check out if needed again super convenient! Also met the lady who was cleaning our apartment and she was the nicest! Can’t wait to be back!

Technical devil make some fun with us when we arrived, but everything is solved.:)
Full equipmented, modern designed apartment with good destination. Every popular attractions in walking distance. Many supermarcets and all kind of food facilities near to the apartment. Hosts are very kind and helpful. I can recommend!

The living room was lacking the natural light that made the room to feel a bit dark. To fix this there are many lamps in the room.
Very clean, spacious, 2 bathrooms with great shower pressure, well equipped kitchen and the location was close to everything we needed to enjoy the city.

Bit more of a welcome pack would have been good. One coffee pod each and limited shower gel/no soap.
Superb location, very reasonable rates. Really useful to have locker facility both before check in and after check out.
